I've attached two images. The first is in the GIMP and the second with GOGH. I noticed that the lines seemed a lot smoother in GOGH so I'm wondering if my device should be working better? I've never used one before but I do recall seeing one being used on a windows machine with Photoshop and the drawing did look a lot more natural and less pixellated.

Anyway, I'm a bit paranoid about this now so if someone can put me out of my misery I'd appreciate it!

Thanks,
Jarlath

PS: I'm ditching my career path as an Engineer to do Art / Graphic design and I want to do it all on linux. I don't know if I'll be any good but I've always wanted to try so I'll be happy to try and fail :)

The first GIMP zick-zack looks like you used the pencil. The pencil is meant to draw hard-edged, without anti-aliasing. You should use airbrush or paintbrush.
