grub lilo boot problem

i Just got a dell optiplex 320 and read around about grub not working, so i followed the instructions(http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=409345) and lilo seemed to work fine so i reboot, and grub is still there, i can boot into xp but not into ubuntu. how do i get rid of grub and just have lilo so i can get into ubuntu?
