I am new to this photography thing, so I thought I'd ask you what you thought of this : http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Maltese+Caper?content=59692
I caught it myself, I want to know if it is good or not.
I also got a photo of 3 snails on a rusty bar.
Feel free to criticise.

No need to criticize, they are both good shots.
Are you planning to be a photographer or just looking for cool pictures for your desktop?

I'd like to learn more about photography. Do you know about any tutorials, etc, on how to get the best pictures?

you'll learn more through experience. i like the snail picture, although i think it would be better if the horizon level wasn't right on them. if you brought down the horizon so the snails are surrounded by the sky, it would punch up the picture a bit more. good work though, keep it up. you might want to look into a digital SLR too if you haven't already.
