Nothing works

I switched from XP to Ubuntu I can access internet through XP .. that is it..
I have tried to install ndiswrapper does not show installed .. This is all new and I am not very linux savy at all ..I have tried quite a few thing nothing seems to work for me... I am running dell D600.. Pavillion.
I can not even figure out if the drivers are loaded for network card...any help ??? thanks...

Please give your wireless card specs for others to be able to help you.
I guess you have checked the ndiswrapper doc page (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/Ndiswrapper) already.
