I'm thinking of getting an Inspiron 6400.
I'm then going to wipe Windows and get Ubuntu installed.
Will Ubuntu work well with the wireless adapter (Intel® Pro Wireless 3945 802.11a/b/g Mini-PCI Card (for Core 2 Duo Processors)?
Thanks

Yes,
it works perfectly with Feisty, right out-of-the-box, no hassle with adding drivers or kernel modules.
I'm using the intel 3945 right now. It even works on the live cd!
Edit: but why not buy the dell with ubuntu preinstalled in the first place? Thereby you will show dell that there is a large demand for linux preinstalled and
on the long term that will help putting pressure on hardware-manufacturers to make (better) linux drivers

I would, except I'm from the UK, and over here Dell do not offer anything other than Windows with their desktops at the moment.
What is Feisty?
Thanks.

Another thing, how easy is to setup drivers for stuff like the graphics card, and sound?
I'm currently using Fedora Core 5 and I'm having a lot of trouble trying to do simple stuff such as get some Nvidia drivers installed and get some sound going.

I see

Feisty (or feisty fawn) is just another name for the newest ubuntu release: 7.04
Sound should work right away,
graphics is just one package to install, which package varies with the brand of the chip.
