Hi, I am trying to install Fedora 6 on a single hard drive machine. When I boot disk1 (Fedora-6-Zod-livecd1)
All I get is a text like set up (with interactive option) , and I never get to a setup or install screen like the ones I see here.......... http://www.howtoforge.com/the_perfect_desktop_fedora_core6

http://www.howtoforge.com/the_perfect_desktop_fedora_core6

When every thing gets done on the text screen I am at the fedora desktop, never being asked (or able) to set local password local host name or any other options , in the desktop most every thing seems to work somewhat Ie; I can open firefox, terminal. but when I reboot its like there is no OS at all?
I have changed the root password for localuser and root thru the terminal and lo\gged off some times ity lets
me logg back in, and some times it sayes name and password incorect?

I guess my question is why do I not get to the install screens and is the OS installing or am I just runing off the live cd and WHAT NOW?

Is ther some way to install after I get to the desktop?

Did you download the liveCD? I think the FC6 live CD might not have had the installer included, but the F7 liveCDs (gnome and KDE) should both be installable.
