For those that don't know what Ubuntu Ultimate is you can learn about the distro from my website (http://ubuntusoftware.info/faq.html#ultimate).
I will be editing this post to keep people informed:
10/25/07 I will no longer be updating this post it is now being updated on my News & Events (http://forumubuntusoftware.info/viewforum.php?f=2) section of my forum. Just to give a heads up U.U.E. 1.6 is really close to "official" release. Those that are registered on my forum will get it even before it has a webpage even written, you can learn the benefits of registering here (http://forumubuntusoftware.info/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=27). So please take the time and register (http://forumubuntusoftware.info/ucp.php?mode=register), before it is too late.
10/22/07 I don't have time to update both forums, I suggest you read the News & Events (http://ubuntusoftware.info/forum/posting.php?mode=edit&f=2&p=3) on my forum, you will want to register as soon as you see yesterdays post. I am uploading U.U.E. 1.6 as I type this. Only registered users will be able to see when it goes "Hot for release" & download it directly from a hidden post (viewable only by registered users) on my forum. It will be posted to the main site later after I write a webpage for it.
10/20/07 Work on Ubuntu Ultimate 1.6 is going slow however I am posting from the Live DVD, which works perfectly thus far about 300MB of nothing but updates. Thought I would toss down a few screenshots (can be viewed in News & Events (http://ubuntusoftware.info/forum/posting.php?mode=edit&f=2&p=3) section on my forum). Wallpaper login etc. are subject to change based on your vote (http://ubuntusoftware.info/forum/viewforum.php?f=16).
10/19/07 Yes, I know Gusty Gibson has been released as final and have been building from it to make 1.6 no easy task (http://ubuntusoftware.info/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=43). If you would like to learn how the release cycle works with U.U.E. you can learn about that here (http://ubuntusoftware.info/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=30&p=79&hilit=Happy+harry#p79). I highly suggest you take the time and register on my forum, those that do will be able to view a thread that guests cannot see. It will be under News & Events (http://ubuntusoftware.info/forum/viewforum.php?f=2) a release before even a webpage is written for 1.6, most likely days in advance.
10/16/07 Our forum is now online (http://ubuntusoftware.info/forum/) and open for registration and posts, please bare in mind there will be some initial growing pains... Enjoy !!!
10/06/07 Got talent? Graphic artists wanted, would you like to have your work seen by 100's of thousands of people? I have set up a poll read more about that here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=568585).
10/04/07 I know it has been a long time since I posted, got a job takes up alot of my time not that I have not been busy pre-building what will be 1.6 (Gusty Gibson based), I have made a new grub splash, Usplash theme, GDM theme, wallpaper and theme for it, you can read more about that here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=3473502&postcount=1286). Been setting up our own forum as well not ready for mainstream traffic yet, will keep you informed.
09/22/07 1.5 has been released (http://ubuntusoftware.info/Ubuntu_Ultimate_1.5/)!!! I will not post it internally until torrent is brought online, so as it sits right now a ubuntuforum exclusive enjoy. Funny an admin moved my thread today, an admin told me to post it where it was.
09/20/06 WOW an idiot I am.. . I may have openly said so as far as corruption jfg69, brought it to my attention (Think that is his nick). Perhaps as I indeed have said in the past, the upload is corrupted seen it first 2nd hand, sorry I will now name snaple he took the "Pepsi challenge" and is no new comer to traffic. I am re-uploading it as I type this. Did not want you to think I was B.S. ing (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=3398400&postcount=1107) you.
09/18/06 It simply blows my mind the pounding going on across the board, I have spoken with a gentleman this eve (no names mentioned) he holds the "key" on the release of 1.5, currently all servers including mine are at max capacity with 1.4 (2.6 TB this week), this guy if he is up to the "Pepsi" challenge wiill feel a huge punch from the snap. Even if he does not accept, we will still have a release but it will be slow (Irregardless I suggest you torrent to help others).
1 of 10 *can you imagine what ccal has seen, or other mirrors?:
6135179.23 MB of 250000.00 MB (2454.07%)
09/15/07 Due to the many repeated questions I have decided to create a Forum based F.A.Q. (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=3370885&postcount=1041) This will take some time to complete perhaps your question is already answered there. I should be spending my time writing a webpage for 1.5 it is uploaded and ready for release.
09/14/07 I have discussed it with ccal and he does not care (he has unlimited bandwidth and pays the same no matter how many people "hit" him") there will be a 1.5 release (uploading it now), however I will be unable to host my own release, a lot of weight will be on his shoulders. Ccal deserves a huge thanks, he is about to be at max capacity for a long time to come, I will adjust the script to remove his repo from your list 200 people at a time is more then anyone should ask for. After traffic calms down I will update the script and put it back in, the script update will be no time soon, obviously I have "bigger fish to fry", I wish people could see what I do.
09/12/07 I have completed and am currently running UUE 1.5 (Gnome, KDE, Enlightenment, Window Maker & XFCE included) each environment 9 in all are selectable from the login window. I have made a short screencast (http://ubuntusoftware.info/screencasts/kde.avi) of the KDE environment & posted a few screenshots (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=3354935&postcount=994) of Gnome environment. With the current amount of traffic (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=3355692&postcount=996) it is unknown when / if it will even be released the servers are at maximum capacity, if traffic slows down perhaps we will have a release; those of you that run 1.4+ will want to wait for the script update, this will allow you to upgrade to 1.5 w/o having to download the 2.2 Gig 1.5 release. Will post more info as it becomes available.
09/07/07 Updated Super Tweaking Ultimate (http://ubuntusoftware.info/Howto_tweak_ubuntu_ultimate.html) page, now have UUE 1.4 Gamers booting into gnome in 15 secs ;) Bonus tip added for those with dual core CPU's. If and only if you like the end results, please provide me a few kudos. (http://digg.com/linux_unix/Super_Tweaking_Ultimate_Feisty). Probably by the time you read it fully a thing of the past, a large webpage ;)
09/04/07 Paid for the repo & download server to be put back online, repo problems should now be a thing of the past. The download server however will take at least 24 hours to refill (unless ccal helps me out).
08/30/07 Due to the great work of Ccal as always. Ubuntu Ultimate 1.4 Gamers is now available for download (http://ubuntusoftware.info/Ubuntu_Ultimate_1.4_Gamers/), screencast (http://youtube.com/watch?v=duhAtZT11vw). Enjoy!!! His repo is now online as well downloading from it now ;) If you have time I'd appreciate a few diggs (http://digg.com/linux_unix/Ubuntu_Ultimate_1_4_Gamers_Edition_i386_DVD_Now_Av ailable_at_LinuxTracker). Lets see if ccal can handle the digg effect ;)
08/29/07 Ubuntu Ultimate 1.4 Gamers edition (64 Bit) is now uploaded, 18 hours to upload 1.4 Gamers X86 (16 1/2 left).
08/28/07 Repo is now mirrored via ccal, 2 standard repo mirrors and one on the way ;) Will be set in motion in a few days. UUE 1.4 Gamers Edition (AMD64 or EM64T architecture (e.g., Athlon64, Opteron, EM64T Xeon) has been built and is uploading as I type this for those of you with 64 bit CPU's. There is also a standard X86 release (already done and ready for upload) for those with intel or don't want to run a 64 bit O/S, a huge download most games are integrated on the DVD. You can read more about it here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=3266670&postcount=862). If you would like to see the list of games included you can read more about that from my website (http://ubuntusoftware.info/Ubuntu_Ultimate_1.4_Gamers/) please note this page is under construction as of time of this post, don't expect the download links to work yet, screenshots and screencast are from 1.4 DVD not Gamers yet.
08/21/07 Repo and download server are down here is why (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=3225468&postcount=725), please don't click on the upgrade Icon until they are back up, will take days in just re-uploading, thanks for your patience and sorry for the inconvenience.
08/18/07 Even though a re-built Ubuntu Ultimate Gamers 1.4 (smaller & windows users happy), I will not release (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=3212131&postcount=699) anything that cant be downloaded, no matter the OS you run; release has been uploaded to main server, there will be no "official" release until ccal comes back from Italy (1 week and & 5 days), or someone PM's me with unlimited bandwidth and ability to serve a hungry crowd.
Example:
Bandwidth: 4579333.41 MB of 2000000.00 MB (228.97%)
This release will exceed that manifold... Not just in size (4GB) but demand. If you have 4GB of space and unlimited bandwidth (what you see above is Terabytes not Gigabytes of bandwidth, thought I would shut down the PM's before started), please message me.
08/14/07 I have written a How to Super Tweak Ultimate (http://ubuntusoftware.info/Howto_tweak_ubuntu_ultimate.html) page, even though it is written specifically with Ubuntu Ultimate in mind I see no reason why a Feisty Fawn user can't use it as well. Enjoy!!!
08/12/07 Sorry to inform you that we may not have a release exempt a ubuntuforum exclusive. You most likely will not be able to download Gamers unless you run linux. Due to the limitation in Windows (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=3175230&postcount=543)
this is the best case situation, I may have to re-build it all.
08/10/07 Gamers Edition is done!!! You can read more about it that here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=3168828&postcount=511). Will probably be 2 days before you can download it between uploading & mirroring a release of this size.
08/07/07 I wrote a brief howto (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=3149537&postcount=472) covering installation of UUE DVD & Nvidia Driver installation. Testing a build of Gamers Edition a bit over 4GB!!! Download server has exceed it's bandwidth limits after almost 400,000 downloads of UUE 1.4 DVD and almost 200,000 of 1.4 CD, simply crazy and done in short order.
08/04/07 I thought I would shttp://hare with you all the making of UUE 1.4 Gamers, most wont be able to view it unless you run UUE 1.4 or have the codecs installed, first beginning (http://ubuntusoftware.info/test/starting), and midstride (http://ubuntusoftware.info/test/midstride) along. Please note no extension *nix doesn't need them ;) Going quite well thus far. 245,517 downloads of 1.4 DVD from main download server only. Not bad for 2 days ;) Massive traffic (http://ubuntuforums.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=39812&d=1186257394). Progress on UUE 1.4 Gamers Edition (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=3134528&postcount=423). We really could use some mirrors, post if you can help.
08/03/07 Mirror & torrent now setup. Please feel free to give me a few "diggs (http://digg.com/linux_unix/Ubuntu_Ultimate_Edition_1_4_DVD_Gnarly_Gnome_Relea sed)", I dugg my own website I want to see if it remains up, the propose of having 3 to begin with. Thanks.
08/02/07 Ubuntu Ultimate 1.4 DVD (http://ubuntusoftware.info/Ubuntu_Ultimate_1.4/) is available for download enjoy!!!. Screencast (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLUXjXo7MuU). Mirrors & torrents will be set up tomorrow.
07/31/07 Ubuntu Ultimate Edition 1.4 DVD (http://ubuntusoftware.info/Ubuntu_Ultimate_1.4/) is now uploading ~2GB will take nothing short of 9 hours to upload, mirrors please stand by. Many wireless issues (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=3063468) have been addressed and integrated onto the DVD (screenshots (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=3111424&postcount=379)).
I would like to apologize if I do not immediately get back with you, I hope you can understand I am a very busy Mahn :), I do try and respond to each and every post.
Looking for help or answers please view our old thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=309704). Still can't find an answer? Please feel free to post.
Below are screen shots of 1.4 DVD version... And a screencast (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLUXjXo7MuU), a bit choppy sorry about that happened when converted from oog / vorbis to avi..

I have yet to post the news to ccal my #1 torrent / mirror man, but I will now send him a PM. I'm actually hoping this to not be slammed as bad as prior releases, it is a beta and not linked from my site. Last release knocked my site offline I'm hoping to avoid that please bare in mind a beta.

hello,
its a relief to hear that the project isn't dead. i would like to know that would this only come with Gnome, why not include KDE also and something to help install the nvidia driver from the cd or better still pre-installed. Thanks

glad to hear that.. actually for newbies like us who's not familiar with ubuntu and also.. don't have much time to spend to dig into more details.. the ultimate has been our only hope... when the launch of 7.04, we are actually not that excited... as nothing much for us.. , but all of my friends are waiting for ultimate... coz it really solve our problem.. it's the real linux for the people.. hope in future ubuntu standard will be offering an ultimate version... i know it is impossible.. but for mass market..(who really want to use but not techies), it's the only version. Thanks ultimate !!!

Interesting to hear that the Ultimate based off Feisty is around.
Whilst I am here, I'd just like to thank TheeMahn2003 for this release - vanilla ubuntu's never installed on my system, just used to hang on install. Ultimate (1.3 - Edgy release) has been a dream - as a newbie, I've never had to do a re-install, and most things worked out of the box.
Would highly recommend this project for those looking to migrate from windows.
cheers

KDE has not been included YET, however when 1.4 goes final it will be included, the nvidia driver or ati can be installed from the live cd or after installation using a tool called envy (http://www.albertomilone.com/nvidia_scripts1.html) this is automatically ran for you if you choose to install video drivers see screenshot here (http://ubuntusoftware.info/Ultimate_Beta/Screenshots/Screenshot-1.png).

Thank you for your kind comments, this release (running it currently) by being based off Feisty has been a real chore to build, it is no where near complete the script I need to finish to allow it to fit on a cd is a lot of work. IMHO I feel Ultimate 1.2 to be the best release I have put out it was very stable and everything just worked w/o having to add this or that. I am glad to hear you have had such great success with 1.3, the main enhancements added to 1.3 was security, however I think I overdid it I bought a book yes I do find time to read on occasion ;) called Hardning Linux a great book if you are looking to secure your box. One of the security enhancements in 1.3 encrypted a disk I burnt for a buddy and he couldn't read it when I put it back in my system it read fine, all though some may call that a security enhancement I call it an annoyance.
Thanks again for your comments

It is comments like these that motivate me to write the next release. I'm sure you may find this hard to believe but I had only been running linux for a few months before building my first distro, I guess my brain is like a sponge.

I did a search to try and find a fix for your video card problem, my buddy had a 400 and had the same exact problem he fixed it by adding something to do with agp to the drivers section. When I get a chance to talk to him I will find you a solution.

Odd, I had the same problem with 3D on my Geforce 6600GT. Envy broke the GUI (Xorg?), however an install from Synaptic and a quick perusal of a HOWTO elsewhere on the forums worked.
It's the only thing that didn't initially work for me in the 1.3 release. Everything else was peachy!
Thanks again for doing this.

I'm really surprised your 8800gts works with feisty a search (http://www.google.com/search?q=8800gts+ubuntu&sourceid=navclient-ff&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1B3GGGL_enUS225US225) in google shows all sorts of problems. perhaps ctrl-alt-f2 as its booting login and run:
envy -t
and select nvidia.

I would like to start off by saying this is a beta, many bugs and omissions, but work in progress. In the past I have released only what I consider stable, however I feel, I should allow people a chance to participate in creating what will be Ubuntu Ultimate 1.4, codename: Gnarly Gnome. I may go back to the ways of the past depending how this works out.
I have thought about scraping Feisty Based all together it has been a huge problem to build from the snap and going back to edgy, where I seem to have a lot less problems. I installed the beta w/o a hitch, it is a beta, I fully expect people as well as myself to have problems on my homepage I clearly state it is not for everyone, I'm sorry your mileage was not as great as mine.

I normally rely on Ultimate Ubuntu as I find it excellent and has all the necessary programs I need so after the recent upgrade I thought I'd wait for the Ultimate edition,so a bit disappointed to see this is a beta as I am a complete newbie to linux and prefer to have everything handed to me on a plate like windows,at the moment am running Windows Vista Basic on a Sony Viao IGB Ram ATI Graphics card which of course I cant upgrade the graphics card to get the glass effects of vista, but with Ubuntu and Beryl I find it a thousands times better than vista, strange how I have no problem with 3D effects with Beryl but denied it with vista, yes I know vista basic does not have aero,I also have vista premium, yes I like to waste money, anyway tried your Ultimate Ubuntu Beta from the DVD and was very much impressed, was even able to play my videos from the windows folder all from the DVD,wont install yet untill the stable version is released,so please don't give up,your doing a great job!

Thank you, it is indeed far from final all I was looking for is a chance to let others "test it out" just as you have done. I think I would be hesitant to install the beta as well, however I have no choice ;) Scripting it to the CD version is a long way away, but I look for it to be the best solution allowing the end user to pick and choose what they would like installed, grabbing all the packages & prerequisites from the internet & playing music as it does so; if the end user opts for it. By the time it's done the music it plays now as it downloads drivers etc. "Halloween" may be fitting. I have downloaded 120,000 mods, s3m etc. so I may have a poll for what you would like to hear as it "takes care of business" this also will be in the future.
I would have to agree with you on the beryl thing it is really something to see as it has much lower requirements then for vista, I have recently purchased 2 nvidia geforce 7800gts (SLI mode) with tripple view (probably when I have the $ gonna buy 3 of these (http://www.antaresdigital.com/customer/product.php?productid=16758&cat=359&page=2) to go with it), have yet to hook up a third monitor; it impresses everyone who has seen it and makes vista look like a joke.
I'm sorry to announce that I have gotten another job (roofing) now 4 jobs if you include building Ubuntu a job so progress will be much slower unless someone else would like to pay my bills ;)
Thanks again

I thought I would share a bit of the scripts progress this will only work currently with the Ubuntu Ultimate Beta please feel free to try it yourself. I will soon attach screenshots. Below is the code for the bash script currently Gamers Edition and Custom only work.

hello,
its a relief to hear that the project isn't dead. i would like to know that would this only come with Gnome, why not include KDE also and something to help install the nvidia driver from the cd or better still pre-installed. Thanks
keep in mind not everyone has an Nvidia card so it would have to autodetect the type of card an appropriate driver. also that would assume you don't want to use mesa.
The lack of KDE support is probubly just because of its size. that and im not sure it would be worth it without the kicker kde menu.

I assume you are looking for a link to download it not host it. If it is the beta you seek you can get it here (http://downloadubuntusoftware.info/ubuntu-ultimate-beta.iso). The lastest stable release can be downloaded here (http://uu.enarel.eu/iso/ubuntu-ultimate1.3.iso). I highly suggest the stable release, unless you want to help with testing.

Strange, thanks for the reply about problems with 8800gts. Works ok in 7.04 have it up and running with nvidia drivers, beryl, enlightenment etc no problems at all. I'll wait for the next version of Ultimate as it really does look so nice. All the programs I want and more.

I did a search to try and find a fix for your video card problem, my buddy had a 400 and had the same exact problem he fixed it by adding something to do with agp to the drivers section. When I get a chance to talk to him I will find you a solution.
i've been away for sometime now and strangely my connection is very slow today. How's the project coming? i hope you get that fix from your pal soon. Merci tres beaucoup (Thanks a lot)

Cause all that software preinstalled is nice, I might just have to go run out and buy a blank DVD

I typically don't see him until the weekend he & I like to have a few brews together, yes I do on occasion take a little time off for myself the bad thing is it's typically in front of a computer, live, eat, and breathe comps lol
I will be sure to ask him if for some reason I don't see him this weekend I will go out of my way to see your problem through.

Yes, it was built from a virgin Ubuntu 7.04 disk, do not expect the same stability / problem freeness as can be found with other Ultimate releases. This is a Beta with that said... It took me hundreds perhaps 1000's of builds to get a good one, I expect Feisty to be a much larger chore. I am running it now (the beta) I have seen very few problems but none the less still problems.

Just wanted to tell you THANK YOU for all your efforts in making the Ultimate Ubuntu, and to suggest you check your spelling on those custom dialogs, in particular I noted "Grabing" (should be Grabbing) and dependancies (should be dependencies).
I know you've got a lot on your plate, but I want to help with SOMETHING, in addition to spreading the word about your wonderful development efforts here. I figure when I see something I'll just fire off a shortie and let you add it to your punchlist of stuff "2 B Done".
Have you thought about a mailing list to spread the word about your latest accomplishments?
Yeah, I know... something ELSE to add to that darned list.....

Won't actually kick into twinview because it is tripple headed maybe i am doing somthing wrong. I can slide windows across all three monitors but when I screenshot it only screenshots 1 of the 17" and the 22" wide screen seen below. Nvidia Xserver setting shows all three but the last 17" is brown for some reason see screenshot. Resolution: 4240x1050 pixels (1035x236 millimeters), now thats some pixels ;)

hmm i hear about this double view now tripple view what is about can you plz explain i've haven't seen one. what are the advantages of having double views or evn tripple. Thanks
I have 2 video cards (nvidia 7600GT's) running in SLI (http://www.techreport.com/reviews/2004q4/sli/index.x?pg=1) mode 16X PCI Express X2 the mainboard supports 32X in SLI mode each video card has 2 heads both are dvi . In essence I can hook up to 4 monitors up to it, I have 3 hooked up now (2 X 17" and a 22" widescreen in the center), I can drag a window from one to the other and onto the last 1. This allows for much greater productivity, once you have tasted twinview it is really hard to go back to one monitor. 3 monitors so far to me seems to be overkill it will probably be that way until I get used to it. Here is an example of truely overkill (http://www.9xmedia.com/pages-Build_a_system/X-Top---5over5.html). This (http://www.cinemassivedisplays.com/Trio_21X.php) is about the same setup as I have.
If you would like to learn more about how they increase productivity please review this (http://chris.pirillo.com/2007/05/31/dual-monitor-display-increases-productivity/) article.

I will look in to atunes perhaps make the cut in 1.4, if you would like to rip a cd for music Sound Juicer is included in all Ultimate releases and does just that. If you wish to make an audio cd K3b as well as serpintine will do that. If you are looking to make a copy of a cd as a image ISO Master will do that, or a trip to the terminal:
dd if=/dev/cd of=NAMEOFIMAGE.ISO

BEFORE INSTALLATION LIVE CD:
I'm burning another CD version of what will be Ubuntu Ultimate 1.31 or perhaps 1.4, it appears from testing prior to installation to be almost flawless. Let's hope the end results are the same. :) 697MB and no windows apps, before it is over with I'll fill the other 3MB ;) As a live cd works almost perfect, however does not play music while it downloads currently but otherwise good to go testing installation and upgrade script.
AFTER INSTALLATION:
Still NO MUSIC why? No timidity first screenshot, will be fixed prior to availability for download, the terminal will be gone for every installation except those that require a license agreement, I plan on wiping the terminal out completely before I am done. I prefer the end user not to have to know cryptic commands in a terminal. Screenshots are taken on a widescreen monitor; BTW the distro picked it up and used at max resolution off the rip no envy even needed even though it is built in for those that may need it, nor any intervention at all on my part.
From screenshot to screenshot the games list gets larger ;) apps list will be the same way as I continue to work upon it. All will be end user selectable when finished. You build your distro ;) really brings the light of day in calling it ULTIMATE!!!

Hi,
I have trouble to remove some softwares on UUE 1.3. For example, I downloaded Pidgin 2.0.1 and I would like to remove Gaim 2 beta 6. However, it's impossible to do it trough the Add/Remove menu and it is not listed as installed in Synaptic (but I can still use it). Does somebody have a solution?
Thanks

Gaim was built (compiled in) in 1.3 the only way I could get the latest and greatest into UU1.3, unfortunately Gaim is no more and is now pidgin. If I could have seen the future I would have used the older deb, I no longer run 1.3 as I am working on what will be 1.4 so I am afraid I cannot be of much help other then to say let gaim stay installed and not use it, use pidgin I'm sorry I could not be of more help.

I would bet it stands for release candidate. If I get the chance after getting 1.4 finalized, Ill put 1.3 back in and figure out how to "purge" it, if the problem has not been resolved by then.

the latest is 1.31 it is a beta (http://downloadubuntusoftware.info/ubuntu-ultimate-beta.iso) based on feisty expect problems as I work them out, I would like to let people know the beta CD version is going better then expected and may be finalized before being released (it will be 1.4). It has the ability to be directly upgraded to the "Gamers Edition" for those that play games. It also has a custom section allowing the end user to select what he/she may want installed (games / apps etc) the script is centrally located on one of my servers and will allow upgrade to 1.5 etc. when completed, instead of having to download a whole cd or dvd again. Currently it allows installation of drivers for Nvidia as well as ATI based video cards via envy (http://www.albertomilone.com/nvidia_scripts1.html) which is integrated in the CD version in works.
Current list of games in my current script are as follows:
Action_Cube
Alien_Arena
Open_Arena
Scourge
Glest
Boswars
Sauerbraten
Secret_Maryo_Chronicles
Vdrift
UFO_AI
Warsow
Mania_Drive
Supertux
Astromenace
Blob_and_conquer
Dark_Oberon
Wesnoth
Advanced_Armagetron
Amoebax
Nexuiz
Enemy_Territory
Tremulous
Americas_Army
BZFlag
Chess_Games
Current Apps section is as follows:
Adobe_Acroread
GFTP
KSnapshot
K3b
IM_Clients (currently pidgin, amsn & plugins)
Music_Players (currently Amarok, Audacious, Songbird, XMMS)
Web_Editors (amaya, bluefish, screem, gphpedit, quanta plus & webmaster tools)
Codecs (good, the bad & the ugly, windows codecs & extra codecs)
DVD_RIP_ENCODE (DeVeDe, ManDVD, Avidemux, IsoMaster, RipDVD)
IRC (KVIRC, BitchX)
Archiving_Tools (Virtually all types of archives can be handled)
NTFS (Read / Write support)
Themes (gtk, cursors, fonts, login, bootsplash)
P2P (Frostwire, Azureus, Bittornado, Bittorrent)
Beryl
Startup_Manager
Bootup_Manager
System_Info (Moaning Goat Meter, System Info, Hard Info)
Google_Picasa
These lists are constantly expanding as I add new sections to the script burn and test

So if I were to install the beta cd, I could keep that install with all my settings and stuff when I upgrade to 1.4 and so forth?
If so, intalling now!
I'm working on that now, you may want to wait for 1.4 to go final be it as a cd or as a dvd, both will have the same results. Once 1.4 goes final it is all handled by a script I posted for all to try. As of today when the script is executed (an icon on the desktop that says upgrade) it checks the repo for a newer script if it is newer it will download it and replace it with the current version, inform the end user a newer version has been released and ask you to re-execute it.
For those concerned how I did it below is the code for version checking:
SCRIPT_VERSION=1.31
##Check for zenity
if [ ! -e "/usr/bin/zenity" ]; then
gksudo apt-get install -y zenity
fi
update() {
wget -O /tmp/gamers.sh http://repoubuntusoftware.info/upgrades/gamers.sh >/dev/null 2>&1
REMOTE_VERSION=`grep SCRIPT_VERSION /tmp/gamers.sh |head -n1 |sed 's/.*=//'`
if [ "$REMOTE_VERSION" != "$SCRIPT_VERSION" ]; then
if [[ -n $DIALOG ]]
then
dialog --yesno "Newer version of Ubuntu Ultimate has been found\n\nDo you wish to install it?" 0 0
DIALOG_EXIT_CODE=$?
if [[ $DIALOG_EXIT_CODE = 0 ]]
then
cp /tmp/gamers.sh $0
echo "Ubuntu Ultimate script has been updated to v $REMOTE_VERSION"
echo "Please re-run the script"
zenity --window-icon=/usr/share/ultimate/ubuntu_ico.png --info --text='Newer version of script detected '$REMOTE_VERSION'. It has been upgraded please re-run script.' --title="Ubuntu Ultimate Edition";
exit
fi
else
cp /tmp/gamers.sh $0

zenity --window-icon=/usr/share/ultimate/ubuntu_ico.png --info --text='Newer version of script detected '$REMOTE_VERSION'. It has been upgraded please re-run script.' --title="Ubuntu Ultimate Edition";

This would indicate that it is not really installed.
rc gaim 2.0.0+beta6-1ubuntu4 multi-protocol instant messaging client
What I would do is check AutoMatix to make sure that it is not listed as an installed App. If it is, uninstall it via AutoMatix as well.
You can then use dpkg --purge gaim to clean things up a bit.
Then when you do a list command again you should see it listed as:
pn gaim <none> (no description available)
Hope this helps,

This is not the exact module used in 1.3. I have re-written it for pidgin but the jest is there. when an app is installed using a package manager such as Synaptic it is added to their database and can be removed likewise. When an app is downloaded as source and compiled into the OS... I think in here lies the problem and the reason he is having problems upgrading (no longer exists) or removing (not in the database). I have solved this from ever happening again by "The Script", being built now. The script currently downloads nothing but debs and installs them using dpkg. I do have plans for those that would like to try "cutting edge" beryl for example all driven by the script, this is a ways down the road stability is my first priority.
This is just for 1 program can you imagine how much time I have spent writing a module for each app included in 1.3? Irregardless of the situation I do appreciate you trying to help others, and so a KUDOS to Slicer, I feel the same way about ccal and snapel for helping the linux community. When I get time after 1.4 finalizes I will install 1.3 and find a way to purge it from the system. Thanks for your help.
I just thought I'd edit and add that I'm testing what I hope to be my last build of the cd version of Ubuntu Ultimate 1.4. :)

I have used Utimate 1.3 on a Windows machine and found it terrific. . How can I install it on a Macbook Pro? I ask because the default wide screen and graphics card scrambles the screen when the Ubuntu install screen is due to come on thus I cannot run the install process. I can, and have installed other versions of Ubuntu on it because of the text based installer in the Alternative Distro's and installed appropriate video drivers afterwards. But there ain't no alternative distro for 1.3 so I seem to be stuck. Anybody have any bright and welcome ideas?

It actually worked flawlessly once it completed the script however there were errors during installation with dpkg these errors are solved at the very end of installation but I want to eliminate all errors so the script will be updated again and rebuilt, which means another installation.
I did a custom installation will all programs and games selected.
Below are screenshots of the script running, the first and second is the end results, the others show the errors in the terminal window, that I am going to fix prior to release.

Absolutely, I have left the internal distro name untouched to allow for updates. Furthermore all repos are enabled by default. Also included in 1.3+ is my custom repo loaded with 500+ programs available for you to add to your hearts desire. :)

All the games included in gamers edition are linux specific however, wine is included with the release and some games work well I have played age of the empires 3 in the gamers edition with a few modifications I found on wines website. Wines website (http://appdb.winehq.org/) is a great place to find workarounds for a lot of games.

Here is the script (http://repoubuntusoftware.info/upgrades/gamers.sh). Copy it to your /usr/share/ultimate/ folder. Then double click the icon on your desktop that says upgrade.

Here is the script (http://repoubuntusoftware.info/upgrades/gamers.sh). Copy it to your /usr/share/ultimate/ folder. Then double click the icon on your desktop that says upgrade.
I will let you know this is untested but I'm fairly certain it should work.
Sorry Mate, I must be missing something.
First the was no /usr/share/ultimate/ folder.
Second I don't think I was clear, I am currently running Ultimate gamers 1.3 (ubuntu Edgy 6.10), I have downloaded the Ulitmate 1.4 (Ubuntu fiesty 7.04) DVD and would like to upgrade the installed ultimate 1.3 to 1.4.
I'm a bit of a linux Newb so assume the worst when relaying instructions!!!
When I try to run the script that you suggested, it stated that I required feisty to be installed first, is it possible to upgrade using the dvd rather than across the net via synaptics?
Thanks in anticipation

Don't quote me on this but I do not think that is possible 1.3 is a edgy based distro 1.4 is feisty based. If you would like to attempt a upgrade first add 1.4's repo to your sources.list. By DVD is probably not possible but by the net the following should work.
sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
remove edgy based repos and add:
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ feisty main
deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu feisty-security main restricted
deb-src http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu feisty-security main restricted
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ feisty restricted
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ feisty universe
deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu feisty-security universe
deb-src http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu feisty-security universe
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ feisty multiverse
deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ feisty-updates main restricted
deb http://repoubuntusoftware.info/ feisty all
save and close.
If you would like to be the first 1 to try a upgrade to 1.4 open a terminal and enter the following...
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade && sudo apt-get -f install && sudo dpkg --configure -a
After and IF it finishes graciously reboot and perform the following in a terminal...
mkdir /usr/share/ultimate
cd /usr/share/ultimate/
rm -R *
wget http://repoubuntusoftware.info/upgrades/tunez/blackcry.mod
wget http://repoubuntusoftware.info/upgrades/tunez/halloween_theme.s3m
wget http://repoubuntusoftware.info/upgrades/tunez/NIN_HEAD.S3M
wget http://repoubuntusoftware.info/upgrades/gamers.sh
wget http://repoubuntusoftware.info/upgrades/bootscript.sh
wget http://ubuntusoftware.info/upgrades/ubuntu_ico.png
chmod +x gamers.sh
mkdir /etc/skel/Desktop
apt-get install -y --allow-unauthenticated envy
#create Shortcut
echo "Creating Upgrade shortcut..."
# create desktop shortcut for Upgrade
echo "[Desktop Entry]
Version=1.0
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=Upgrade
Type=Application
Exec=gksudo sh /usr/share/ultimate/gamers.sh
Icon=/usr/share/ultimate/ubuntu_ico.png
Terminal=True
Categories=GNOME;GTK;Application;System;" > ~/Desktop/Upgrade.desktop
# chmod shortcut
chmod a+x ~/Desktop/Upgrade.desktop
I would not attempt any of the above unless you are willing to accept a possible failure (this could cause a re-install or clean install of 1.4 however you want to view it). So please use at your own risk. I would not do so on a production machine.
I hope I have been of some help.

The best results I see on wines site for battlefield 2 is a silver (means not too good) there are also a few garbages, Perhaps you can find something that nobody has found yet and get it working properly, if you do post to their site so others can reap the benefits.
Best of luck,

All of them are based on gnome except 1.3 which has gnome as well as kde windowmaker & enlightenment.
OK. Thanks. Looking at the screenshots, I just assumed they were KDE.

it looks good, i like more minimal stuff though, but after looking through the added apps you might be interested with a qemu frontend. i have it on another computer, but i think this is the home page -

I have seen many qemu front ends, none of which I see that take care of business as I see it and add Qemu acceleration, I will integrate this into your OS, please be patient as I write the script. By all means I encourage someone else to write it. I am 1 mahn most companies which I am not, have plenty of time on their hands. I have written a rmod that does just that, I build for the people. Please excuse me when I say I have been down that road and I present you the code:

The same can be executed as a bash script. We can argue till we are blue in the face but results are the same. Probably does not work anymore, I have focused my attention in developing an OS that suits the people and when I say the people I mean broad based. I do take in consideration what you have said and is within something I should add with in my main script. A GUI based QEMU I could write for you, but why "re-create the wheel", a theory I live by. I have written many a program for windows utilizing the API, which is BTW a joke.
I will try to integrate software as far as qemu is concerned, however not top on my list. I wish you could see what I do.

I would like to post to let all know, I have not died and Ubuntu Ultimate is still in the works as a matter of fact I'm here to post that a new "beta" will soon be available for download, uploading now. This post will change to keep people informed of current works in progress. If you would like to learn more about the beta distro please view this page (http://ubuntusoftware.info/Ultimate_Beta/). Details etc. as it is finalized will be updated here. The distro is based on Feisty Fawn.
It is now uploaded, enjoy.
For those that don't know what Ubuntu Ultimate is you can learn about the distro from my website (http://ubuntusoftware.info/ultimate/).
I will be editing this post to keep people informed:
06/26/07 Great news... Ubuntu Software now has a dedicated webmaster, something I don't have time for. Look for pages to start appearing that were "under construction" soon & those not finished to be completed. Everyone give a big thanks to rakansen (http://ubuntuforums.org/member.php?u=284994). We are also looking for a wikipedia writer for Ubuntu Ultimate, I will provide most of the information. If you can help please post or pm me.
06/25/07 A huge stumbling block has been hit in trying to remove gaim and compiz from the live cd (was going to replace them with pidgin and beryl) due to dependencies with the ubuntu-desktop metapackage, I have so far failed. I am working on resolving this issue. There is no bug report listed as it is not seen as a bug unless you are building it as a live cd. Once built it will ask for a login and password from the live cd (should not do this, should auto login). This issue can be seen by attempting to remove gaim it will also remove ubuntu-desktop which is an essential package for the live cd. Adding it back after removal will also install gaim.
06/18/07 The script (http://repoubuntusoftware.info/upgrades/gamers.sh) is now good enough to start building for release. When executed it will compare its version to the version on the server if the one on the server is newer it will download it overwriting it with the new one and inform the end user to re-start the upgrade process. Works like a charm ;) Currently set to version 1.31 at time of posting.
06/10/07 just a bit of an update (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=2819407&postcount=52) on the progress of the CD version.
06/09/07 I have updated the script and am now using what will be the CD version please be forewarned there are bugs in the script, that will be ironed out well prior to any release be it as a beta or as final, I will post progress.
06/06/07 For those that are currently running it (Ultimate 1.31 beta installed) please try this script (http://repoubuntusoftware.info/upgrades/gamers.sh) it is work in progress, I have purchased a separate hosting account, domain & the packages to take the load off the main server as it is being tested. The script will constantly be changing as I work on it.
I would like to apologize if I do not immediately get back with you, I hope you can understand I am a very busy Mahn :), I do try and respond to each and every post.
I would like to post the source for all to view of the current script in works:

Looking for help or answers please view our old thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=309704). Still can't find an answer? Please feel free to post.
Below are screen shots of the CD version in progress...
Why should Linux distros continue emulating Windows? Windows came with Ultimate and there we go...hope MS does not have a patent for that.

Just a bit of an update... If I have to use compiz why not compizfusion (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1405505248277861212&q=compiz+fusion&total=53&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=0) ;) Already loaded into the repo (http://repoubuntusoftware.info/) for feisty. BTW makes compiz and beryl look like a joke still no fix for gaim unless I script it in.

Bit the bullet. I had fiesty on an hp dv8000 with ati express 200m. Installed ultimate 1.4. Kernal panic error with .16, but it starts up fine with .15
Thats a beta for ya sorry about that, glad I did not remove the old kernel ;) On the CD version I am not going to upgrade the kernel at all the script will do it for you. May do the same with the final DVD build as well. I think it may have had something to do with depmod running.
Not an excuse for a final but I feel I was fairly clear in forewarning people about the beta as it says "Expect Problems" ;) Expect it gone in the final release. Sad to say but the CD Version will be completed prior to the DVD, from what I see thus far the CD version beats the DVD beta hands down, but I am not going to release it until all bugs are worked out. As it sits now it displays errors but fixes all them at the end of the operation, I want them fixed as they happen, in case the user decides to cancel as it is upgrading. Don't want to leave the end user with a broken system.
This is the reason it has taken me as long as it has, especially when 1 takes in to account the 10 of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of times just 1.3 has been downloaded, makes one really strive for perfection.
I would like to ask all to be please be patient with me, I do have a life beyond linux as well, not much BTW ;)

Oh goodness. I have been with Ubuntu Feisty since it came out and am very happy. it does everything I need thus far.
When I thought I could not find anything new - Here is Ubuntu ultimate. I reviewed your website and the screen shots and I am very interested in what I see. It is obvious that you have done a tremendous amount of work.
I wait for the final release!!

Oh it isn;t a problem. I decided to give gamer a try. Haven't done any edgy ones yet. It ran flawlessly. I would have kept useing th old kernal with 1.4, but it wouldn't update and such. I keep all my data on my old ntfs drive. So the Os is irrelevant and I change at wil. Really liking 1.3. If I get bored I may try and update from 1.3 and see what happens.

I would like to thank you personally, it feels great to know my work has not gone unnoticed. This I find funny my profile (http://ubuntuforums.org/member.php?u=74770) has pagerank ;) My site is powerful at returning the favor, a 3 but no other site I know of points to that page. My page rank is about to go up to 6, internal pages have nothing less then a 4, unless new. Pretty impressive to me, I have had sub 10,000 traffic rank. Think about this for a few, there are billions of websites and of all those billions I have achieved at peak above top 10,000 in the world (million+ hits in 2 days). Done by 1 Mahn ;)
I understand this has nothing to do with my work other then the website, but gives me chills. I provide information on how to do it yourself, welcome aboard linux mint (http://linuxmint.com/). I am all about education, If I have time. Time is not a commodity I have. I wish I could help everyone in the world.
My Ultimate goal is to make NIX easier then windows, even as much as I love the terminal I am going to kill it, or so make it optional. Even though this feature has not been implemented as of yet an example of it can be seen here (http://ubuntusoftware.info/ubuntu_games/RTCW_Enemy_Territory.html). Notice the script installer, eventually will be MIME type; one click and done. Will write and integrate it into the OS, the extention will change but results yielded will be the same. I understand this has been done before "Click & run" software, however they charge for this feature, I have no intention of charging for anything I offer.
I do however intend to offer a donation page and a sponsor section. This money is used to help absorb the costs of bandwidth, BTW I have seen 1 1/2 TB, yes thats TB not MB ;) smoked in a day, and becomes quite expensive. That was peak and boils down to $1,500 a day, imagine that, thanks to ccal, torrent and others, I would like to say at this point welcome aboard our new African mirror. These people are truly responsible for you being able to obtain it to begin with. My costs have gone down due to this. The purchasing of other sites download and repo has trippled my cost overall, when download gets close to exceeding the 2TB limit I cancel and pay for a new one, 2TB for $15 is much better then $1.49 per gig, if I catch it in time.
This was probably information overload, I know you didn't ask about the other info, I just wanted it off my chest. Thanks again.
Best regards,
TheeMahn

I have not tried it as of yet, answering posts.... No matter how long it takes, I will make it perfect prior to release, in which I pre-apologize for any what some may consider a delay, even though my last build works perfectly by results yielded at the end, I won't have any errors, and would greatly appreciate patience. Rest assured perfection as with prior releases, please bare in mind I am 1 man<<-pun intended there.
I would also like to inform you if you want the games that will be pre-loaded in 1.4 DVD the CD version takes a long time to complete even at 600KBPS here, some games are huge. Apps are not an issue, I do look for bandwidth to be chewed up in short order from the repo with the introduction of games, currently only hosted by me, with very few exceptions. Good thing I bought a 4th host http://testubuntusoftware.info 2TB there as well i may utilize that for upgrades, wait for the final release and see.
Sorry you had to pull out your wives DVD player CD will be the answer just don't reinstall a bunch of times I have "stroked" 120GB of bandwidth in just testing and I am 1 MAHN :) I must highly suggest the DVD which is further down the road. As said in previous posts bandwidth is expensive.

Let me know how it goes, have not heard back from the other fella and it was all "beta", if it works please write a howto I'll post it initial post and give you credit, currently I don't have time. If you can't figure it out I will go back and do so as I promised a fella here. After building cd and dvd version is done howto scrap gaim from his os and replace with pidgin, after all I am dedicated :)
EDIT: I now post screenshots... Why am I not happy? Worked perfectly as a live CD... Speed not even out yet, yet the server is already being abused... 40K a sec... Evidently we have tons of testers... I will see bandwidth stats tommorrow.

Went through next to perfect. sed problems means nothing to me (shows transfer rate) however initial upgrade is done, and done so w/o a progress indicator, which is a show stopper to me... most will close the window can't have that, hoping not to have a window at all when finished. A script fix is in order to me as well as a rebuild not that I have to the script will update itself. Will not be released prior. Funny thing is prior releases do the same work perfectly minus initial upgrade. The newest and greatest script although the same version, people should not be testing it as I am, but I feel is happening (due to bandwidth, have the ability to send to 1,000 ppl @ a time). Please be patient or I will strip it and not post where it is. Nothing personal, I can see the hit it is gonna have. In the past I have asked not to be "used" as "the website" that is home to it, asking for traffic to be pressed away from me. Today I believe I can at the very least handle web traffic, downloads not at all, repo traffic will probably get hit in the mouth as well, I really wish people can see what I see. This release w/o a doubt will cripple me, not in hits I have seen but raw bandwidth, I pray I can count on mirrors, and I feel for them. I only hope I have is a chance to mirror my repo and that come down to ccal or that of others... Or im @ loss, funny thing and I will express to you all I have 8 TB (across 4 hosts) of bandwidth for a month, 2 I thought I would not expunge, repo is about to be "stroked" and I will explain why the CD version of Ultimate the "script" you all download it feels the feeling. Which "was" my last of concern at time of posting.
I will let things go by as "they were", I suggest you quit or I have no choice but to shut it down. Sometimea I appreciate that you care as much as you do as to continue as you have been, however the bottom line remains you all have the ability to wipe me off the net, no matter how many websites I buy.

Actually 5 websites one not posted to the public. Will let all know I have updated the script. Overkill in linux is called an added feature there is no such thing as bloat as there is in the windows world, more you add the slower it gets in windows, has no effect on *NIX. So it should not matter if there is 6 music players etc. unless of course space is limited. In linux no matter how many programs you install does not slow down overall performance, minus services of course.
BUM (http://ubuntusoftware.info/bum.html) is included in any release to allow removal of unnecessary services, what may be necessary to one may not to be to you, please review carefully before removing any service. I have been working hard to allow users the ability to allow you, yes you and everyone else to build your own distro, selecting only what you would like with descriptions of what those apps / games are; welcome aboard the CD version running it now, currently spits me errors and fixes them at the end, however can not have that as some may click cancel & bork their system and blame me ;)
I have not forgot about reconstructor, I'm actually overdue to drop them a ton of modules, I just currently have priority's and #1 to me right now is to drop a CD for the world ;) If you would like to submit them for me all modules current are here (http://ubuntsoftware.info/rmods/modules.tar.gz), has not been updates since June 26th. Please don't repost what I have already posted.
A sig for reconstructor? I have helped write their python and get 0 credit, I am starting to see what I wrote a long time ago "experimental" is what they call it today, they should have just accepted me to their team then, I still write rmods but no python, reconstructor would have been 10 fold where it is today they want to remove rmods and have python take care of it all... I believe Nucleus is behind this thought, a great guy and quite smart. Well it would not effect me I know python, but others... I guess in essence I am not a part of the "reconstructor" team. If necessary I will branch from it. I tried to be straight I just was not taken seriously. So a sig is currently out of the question.

Well I am gonna try an be straight to the point, if edgy works for you so should all releases up to and including 1.3 nothing has been removed from 1.3 for example using 1.3 as a stepping stone only upgraded and software added... in essence better then edgy in that aspect. When I used 1.3 I had wired and wireless both or which were picked up and setup accordingly as the same can be said for edgy. I have never seen anyone say edgy works but my distro does not, as it is built from edgy I do not remove wireless drivers to save space... And IF such a situation arrived it is and due to an upgrade.
Lets take a step forward, and what I assume you are referring to, ndiswrapper is what grabs my attention. I have yet to include that in the CD version I am building, however may be well within consideration, After all no net you are done in the CD version. Easily taken care of in any DVD version when space is not something one takes into consideration. I assume and assume will make an a** out of you and me, not once but twice ;) Your wireless card is not natively picked up in feisty,

Any ideas as to what I need to do, or is this just a Beta problem?

Probabyl because Beryl seems to be a distro specific - ie: you had the Edgy version. There may be a version specific to Feisty, however as Beryl's been canned possibly not.

Well it seems it had something to do with Windows. Windows hadn't been properly shut down before installing Ultimate, or something like that, as it resumed as if from hibernation, then for a while it too couldn't find any networks but after a while it began to work, sot I shut Windows down (it also installed an update) and then booted into Ultimate and the wireless worked immediately! Problem solved!:D

1.4 makes 1.3 look like a joke in what I had to do to make it, I will be forthcoming with that information. The CD version will be able to upgrade to any version when finished. I will update the CD version only once every 6 months when completed. However the script will be constantly updated to allow new features.
As far as your question 1.3 to 1.4 only after tested would I post a how to... I initially had no intension of posting a howto or allow an upgrade. I hate to see people mad at me because their "upgrade" did not go through. I have felt the "feeling" on a personal level trying to build a CD, which now hangs at 69%, happens every time irregardless. I may be hard pressed into making the script make almost all happen. At time of posting I injected 116 upgrades on to the CD, I suppose means nothing if it hangs... I do have older builds which by the way work flawlessly minus the errors it spits as it "takes care of business"., I can't have users hitting cancel and blaming me. I wish you could see what I do. To have an understanding.
So in conclusion, I really can not answer your question as of now, it is something I do consider, my priority is the CD, perhaps I can move from there. Eventually it won't matter... eventually the script will take care of all.

I am hoping the CD version of Ultimate will be your have all, all in one distro, followed by a DVD release, I know I have not included Networking in DVD beta, perhaps my prioritys are not within motion, however I DO strive to make a 1 distro does all but we are far from that. You are facing a problem I once faced... My repo will break your compiz as of today all because of 1 package... I will fix it, compiz fusion will be your answer when I am done. Edgy based repo does not get messed with (why break what is not broken), however feisty based is "cutting edge" as of today- to me. I will continue support but fusion will not be there any time soon or until it is stable.
I know others may say Gusty... Compiz fusion is not there.... Do the math ;) And quite frankly my distro is not there yet. Beryl was my love of life, I felt that way until I seen comiz fuzion. Does it crash yes on occasion, something I am willing to accept currently. If you are looking for stabilty 1.3, you know the answer otherwise.
I want to inform you disabling / enabling repos will have 0 effect in my shiny new CD/DVD when completed as all are enabled from the rip.

Um, what? Sorry TheeMahn, but I've not used you repo's. At least, not after a week or so. Ages ago they errored when re-building my sources.list, and I removed them. I tend to run off Internode's repos, which are my local ISP's mirrors of the official repo's. (My ISP does this for pretty much all the linux distro's - but only Internode customers can access them.)
I was suggesting Fusion to the other fellow, based on what I read about it on various fora, and what I thought was an educated guess as to what the problem may have been.

What an adventure!!!
First of tired to run upgrade from 1.3 to 1.4 and it failed saying it will only work with feisty installed! (not Edgy which I installed via 1.3).
Then I tried installing from DVD from scratch and again no joy it failed on restart "Kernel Panics VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)" after editing the fstab and grub still couldn't get it to work so quit and started again.
This time install vanilla feisty and followed steps listed above it has 'sort-of' worked it took 2days to complete, is there any way to add /y switch to your script so it doesn't site there waiting for me to type in y all the time is loads a new app???
It appears to be up and running however it doesn't have the same package list that 1.3 has so I don't believe it has installed correctly, but then that simply could be the difference do you have a app list so that I can check to see if everything installed correctly?
If the above method didn't work I was going to run dist-upgrade from utlimate 1.3, but I think I've leave it as it is running!
hope that may help in your beta testing, if not it was 'fun'!

sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
goto the "screen section and add the following:
Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"
It should look similar to this:
Section "Screen"
Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"
Identifier "Default Screen"
Device "nVidia Corporation G70 [GeForce 7600 GT]"
Monitor "CMC 22 W"
DefaultDepth 24
Make sure default depth is 24
save and exit press ctrl-alt-backspace to restart xserver Beryl should work fine;) Enjoy!!!

I was suggesting Fusion to the other fellow, based on what I read about it on various fora, and what I thought was an educated guess as to what the problem may have been.
cheers
Scruffy
Speaking of Compiz Fusion (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1405505248277861212&q=compiz+fusion&total=53&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=0)... It is now on Ultimate 1.31+ repo (http://repoubuntusoftware.info/#1.4) (feisty based) hosted on a separate server, however 1 package was missing and is now fixed prior to "official release. For those running Ultimate 1.31+ or just feisty and would like to try it below is how to get compiz fusion running. Please test at your own risk, just because it works on mine is no guarantee it will work on yours.
Step 1 remove old compiz and desktop effects:
sudo apt-get remove compiz-core desktop-effects
Step 2 with Ultimate 1.4+ repo (http://repoubuntusoftware.info/#1.4) enabled (does not exist on Ultimate edgy based repo) update and install compiz fusion.
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install compiz compiz-gnome compizconfig-settings-manager compiz-fusion-plugins-extra libcompizconfig-backend-gconf
Step 3 Fire it up... In a terminal
compiz --replace
Just some notes of interest as with previous posts adding the following to your screen section may be necessary to get "window decorations" to work, typically NVIDIA cards:
open a terminal applications>accessories>terminal
sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
goto the "screen section and add the following:
Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"
It should look similar to this:
Section "Screen"
Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"
Identifier "Default Screen"
Device "nVidia Corporation G70 [GeForce 7600 GT]"
Monitor "CMC 22 W"
DefaultDepth 24
Make sure default depth is 24
save and exit press ctrl-alt-backspace to restart xserver. Compiz fusion should now work fine;) Enjoy!!!

I uploaded a video to youtube showing the CD upgrade process as I played with apps, compiz fusion, etc. Followed by a video of games being played, however youtube has now capped a video to the length of 10 minutes :(, so both failed. May still post them on my site.

I tried... I will not open another email address... I have prolly more then I like to keep track of as it is, bandwidth I do not sweat the load over as the largest linux native oog/vorbis file is 6MB but 13 minutes of video, funny find a mov or mpg that exceeds 10 minutes at that size, should tell you a lot firsthand.
What does revver.com, say to me?
This must be the email address you use at gravatar.com. What's this?
BTW youtube, pays as well. youtube used to be hosted in Japan or similar I believe... since it's acquisition in excess of 1 billion $ and over a mill in bandwidth costs each month (I thought I had it bad) welcome aboard deep pockets Google... But maybe I don't know what I'm talking about ;)

Can it be 32 bit? I don't know a whole lot about the prog, but 32 bit surfaces blit much faster than 24.

Hey, where can I find source code of Ubuntu Ultimate? I was searching the ubuntu ultimate site for 1 month...
**By the way, how did you manage to make musics to play in installer?
The source of what makes Ultimate current edition based on feisty is a script (http://repoubuntusoftware.info/upgrades/gamers.sh) I wrote. For 1.3 or less I used a standard Ubuntu disk you can obtain all source from their website (http://www.ubuntu.com/products/WhatIsUbuntu/desktopedition) and reconstructor (http://reconstructor.aperantis.com/). If you would like to learn how I made it please review my FAQ (http://ubuntusoftware.info/faq.html#distro).
Music... I used software called timidity to play it. I pre-injected the music onto the disk they are not mp3's they are .mods and s3m's similar to, but better then a midi, but not copy written.
the statement in the script that plays the music is:
timidity /usr/share/ultimate/playlist.m3u
Currently just works with the cd version. Will work with the official 1.4 DVD as well. Or perhaps in your case:
timidity /usr/share/ultimate/halloween_theme.s3m
The script now dynamically updates itself from my repo by version checking the one on the server, unfortunately I had not written that section until after release of the beta dvd. So any build / release from here on out will be able to be upgraded without downloading 2 GB each time, however I will still offer a DVD version of both Ultimate as well as gamers edition. Look for the gamers edition to fill an entire DVD, America's Army (http://www.americasarmy.com/) for example is 775.8 MB and thats just 1 of the many games that will be included.
I can not count how many times I have built the CD version and currently hangs at either 54% or 69% of being installed. This issue will be resolved before release.
If you are running the beta DVD below is a way to force it to update the script... once done 1 time will not have to be done again as the script will do it for you in a terminal:
cd /usr/share/ultimate/
sudo rm gamers.sh
sudo wget http://repoubuntusoftware.info/upgrades/gamers.sh
Click on the upgrade icon on the desktop and enjoy your new features.

I apologize if the answers to my questions have been posted somewhere, but I haven't been able to find them.
1) Is there a 64-bit version of Ubuntu Ultimate? Are there plans for one in the future?
2) Are you still maintaining Ubuntu Ultimate Gamer's? Will there be one based on Feisty or Gutsy?
I'm interested in testing/using Ubuntu Ultimate or Ubuntu Ultimate Gamer's, but I like to know that I'm getting the most out of my hardware and the best software available.
Thanks in advance.

I have made valiant attempts at making a 64 bit version, which failed to build more times then I can count, this was in the edgy days, I have not however tried to build it in feisty. I have my hands full and do not currently have time to attempt another build, may be something I re-attempt in the future.
Ubuntu Gamers Edition is 3 full releases away, CD version which has been a bear to me followed by a final build of 1.4. Then Gamers Edition, for those that don't want to wait for the Gamers Edition DVD the CD Version is upgradeable to any version including grabbing the games off the net and installing them for you, fully customizable. Main reasons for creating the CD version are:
1. Script able engine allowing enhancements, adding apps /games from a centrally served script (not having to download 2GB when Ultimate goes to 1.5 etc.)
2. Not everyone has a DVD burner
3. Customization (hand pick what you would like installed)
Negatives:
1. Each person that installs it sucks a ton of bandwidth from my repo currently hosts most packages, Some packages (games) are huge.
2. If someone screws up their OS and reinstalls see #1 ;)
Gusty? I currently have no intention, each release I have released in the past were built off stable Ubuntu images and meant to be stable, and have stood up to it. Perhaps time permitting in the future that may happen, but I have quite a workload ahead of me currently.

I would like to point out something I have never seen on any other website; I would love someone to point out another site that is this way. My home page (http://ubuntusoftware.info/) has a Google PR5, my Ultimate 1.3 page (http://ubuntusoftware.info/Ubuntu_Ultimate_1.3/) buried in my site 3 clicks to get to it has a PR6, I have never seen a site with higher internal pagerank then a sites homepage. I used to SEO a long time ago, what I changed yesterday will increase virtually all pages across the board, most have 0's because of this until next update.
Probably should post this in a SEO forum.

So I'm curious. I want to download and install Ubuntu - but I would prefer to download Ubuntu Ultimate - as it probably means less work for me.
However how far into the beta program is Ubuntu Ultimate and has there been any activity in updating the most recent .ISO - and also would it be better to wait for a final Ultimate release, if in fact such a release is likely to be imminent?
How soon, or how far into the future is a final release likely to be - and is the Beta so unstable that I would be better at this point just to go with a standard (non Ultimate) Ubuntu install?

Well as far as progress I just burnt another attempt onto a CDRW if it works it will be released today. If not I will re-build and re-burn as many times as necessary until it is perfect.
If you "just have to have" a feisty based release I would wait on the cd or use standard feisty until release. If you don't mind edgy based I would download and use 1.3, I have little faith in the beta some people have seen kernel panics in 1,31 and the reason it is beta.
I probably should not say that as the beta has been downloaded 17,153 times as of yesterday recorded at downloadubuntusoftware.info over 1/2 a Terabyte. I have had 2 negative reports concerning it not a bad ratio I guess both kernel based problems. Fixed by hitting escape on boot and selecting the older kernel.

07/06/07 THE CD VERSION IS DONE!!! Great news works absolutely fabulously minus no music during upgrade process will be scripted in before you can ever download it (fixed). What is the CD Edition? It is Ubuntu Feisty Fawn customized, injected with compiz fusion & a upgrade script allowing full customization of your OS. It is uploading now look for it in the next 24 hours. I love it ;)
I have bad news for you if feisty does not work for you neither will this as far as wireless drivers. I did not add any drivers to the disk (700MB is hard to work with). Compiz Fusion (not compiz... compiz fusion (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4Fbk52Mk1w) is a combination of the best of both worlds of Beryl & Compiz) makes Beryl look like a joke and is integrated on the disk.

Yes 7 & compiz fusion ,a few other enhancements, and the ability to choose what you would like installed. Screenshots are on my initial post (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=2763429&postcount=1). 3rd screenshot on over. It is not a package manager, however may work it into that as such.

I have in the past fixed many wireless issues in for example UUE 1.3, however fiesty is a bear in just upgrading the kernel, something I will make happen... I would estimate the DVD to be around 2GB and the Gamers Edition to be over 4GB. I have not started on either Edition I have to get the CD version out to the public first, as well as mirrored.
CD edition:

I will most likely remove the beta DVD shortly, it is burning up bandwidth as of current ... would like to reserve the 1 3/4 TB (bandwidth is based on a month). I can almost assure this release will exceed that of 1.3 as far as downloads, as well as a big punch on the repo, will probably have to pay to upgrade that as well. I have never "coordinately" asked for money but may do so in the future because of this. I will try to make your OS and host the packages as long as I can take it. I do have alot of money going out and very little coming in as of now.

The DVD version does not require you to download anything it is all there off the rip. The cd version is Feisty Fawn with compiz replaced by compiz fusion, customized and a upgrade script (icon on your desktop) that downloads and installs the software you select from the web. I like to hear that however, there is a war going on now perhaps others should see. I'm sure many have seen the acquisition of SUSE by $MS, Many of the programmers are here now. The info I am about to provide (http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,2138970,00.asp?kc=EWYH104039TX1B0000665)
is well beyond this thread, This can change *nix and when I say that I mean all versions of nix, redhat, mandrake etc. as well as my own. It is their greed that makes this happen. I am really surprised there was not an outrage with the acquisition of suse. Ultimately they are pissing with GPL3. They have the fat wallet to shut down *nix is what they are trying to do.

yea i have been watching how the evil empire has been treating and thats one of the reasons i went to Ubuntu because i use to run suse but when i found out that they were signing a deal with ms (the evil empire) i dropped them as soon as i found something different, i refuse to support the evil empire, or the vole as slashdot calls them. i was very glad to read this post on slashdot (http://linux.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/06/21/1727242). do you know what video turner works good with *nix because ati seems to refuse to support that function in the all-in-wonders for *nix? once i get that part working in *nix (and well i gave up on getting it working thru my all_in_wonder) then i won't need the vole for anything anymore. was also glad to see that Google is going after the vole as well.

the statement in the script that plays the music is:
timidity /usr/share/ultimate/playlist.m3u
HI, And I understand, but.. How can I compile your .sh file?

@Themann I was wondering if you've had luck with the wireless issue ? cause its giving us hell of a time here. If you've please help us out
There is insufficient space on the cd to add any wireless drivers I would wait on the dvd.

A .sh file is a series of native to linux bash commands, similar to a .bat file in windows so compiling is unnecessary.

yea i have been watching how the evil empire has been treating and thats one of the reasons i went to Ubuntu because i use to run suse but when i found out that they were signing a deal with ms (the evil empire) i dropped them as soon as i found something different, i refuse to support the evil empire, or the vole as slashdot calls them. i was very glad to read this post on slashdot (http://linux.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/06/21/1727242). do you know what video turner works good with *nix because ati seems to refuse to support that function in the all-in-wonders for *nix? once i get that part working in *nix (and well i gave up on getting it working thru my all_in_wonder) then i won't need the vole for anything anymore. was also glad to see that Google is going after the vole as well.
All in wonder:
ATI All-in-Wonder TV capture software
The General ATI TV and Overlay Software (GATOS) suite for
capturing video. This package does not require kernel
patches, and includes:
* xatitv: GUI TV-in-a-window application
GUI access to all GATOS functionality, save tv-out.
* atitv: Simple text-mode program
Basic functionality to record video and toggle tv-out.
* atitoppm:
* atitogif:
* atitojpg:
YUV conversion utilities
* yuvsum: video field to frame converter
Averages all images in gatos.yuv (must all
be same size).
* atisplit: YUV conversion to ucbmpeg
This splits the output file for MPEG encoding.
This software is not intended to support most recent ATI AIW Radeon
Gatos will be installed for you if you select custom and capture card software.

I can not accept the license agreement for you if you wish to modify the script to help you I say go for it. But if I were to write the script to accept the license agreement for you I would probably be in some trouble ;) Thanks for trying to help.

IMHO, better it will install etc same as feisty other then compiz fusion being built in. There is an icon of the desktop that says upgrade, that download software for you codecs, Google earth etc. Actually you can select what is to be installed by selecting custom.

Within a few days I will come back and try to reply to each post. I have seen an error posted here during upgrade that I would like to address. YOU MUST BE CONNECTED to the internet in order to upgrade. Otherwise it will nullify the upgrade script. Please open your browser and go somewhere on the internet to ensure you are connected, before attempting to upgrade.

Interesting project but the nomenclature confuses me a little with its Ubuntu name and a new version numbering.
Did you get a permission from Canonical to use their trademarked "Ubuntu" name for your releases, domains and the logo too. The presentation of your project certainly lookss quite official (e.g. in terms of security), especially for the uninitiated.
What about the hosting of 3rd party proprietary packages on your (unauthenticated) ubuntusoftware.info site?
Your website's "contact" and "about" pages were nonexisting links so I'm kind of wondering who's actually vouching for the software on offer and its security.
If it was simply "TheeMahn's Ultimate Linux distro (based on Ubuntu xx)", or even "TheeMahn's Ultimate Automatix-on-steroids Script for Ubuntu xx", it probably wouldn't have piqued my interest. But since it's "Ubuntu" from a "ubuntusoftware.info" site...

Logo:
Logo Usage Guidelines
Our logos are presented in multiple colours and it is important that their visual integrity be maintained. It is therefore preferable that the logos only be used in their standard form but if you should feel the need to alter them in any way you should keep the following guidelines in mind. It should also be borne in mind that the more you wish to vary our logos from their standard form the smaller is the chance that we will be able to approve your proposed use.
*
If presented in multiple colours, the logo should only use the “official” logo colours.
*
You may use transparency and gradient/depth tools but should retain the “official” colours.
*
A monotone version may be acceptable in certain situations, if the use requires it (e.g. desktop backgrounds).
*
Any scaling must retain the original proportions of the logo.
In which I do.
As far as licensed software...
I do not accept any license agreement the "end user" you must accept the license agreement. The script will download it open a terminal for you to accept each piece of software that requires it.
The about page has been started actually there are 3 separate pages (have yet to be merged). We now have a webmaster on it. But I can not give you a deadline as to when it will be done. Actually a great portion of the website is incomplete.

The cd check in the menu will only compare the "original disk" to the md5sum it is built upon the md5sum and feistys are different so it will always fail it's own cd check. The md5sum I have posted is correct if it passes md5sum before burning the disk should be ok, I do however suggest burning at a slower speed to ensure integrity is met. I am not sure where md5sum is stored on the disk, I'm sure I could somehow replace it with the correct one. something I will have to look into. Just so that portion works.

Well I didn't really see any clear references to Canonical or Ubuntu's origins so the crediting on your site appears somewhat ambiguous. Somehow I couldn't imagine Red Hat or Mandriva allowing third parties to use their respective trademarks quite as directly.
http://www.ubuntu.com/aboutus/trademarkpolicy
There were quite a few other requirements for using the Ubuntu trademark so surely it wouldn't be too troublesome to write to the email address on that page and get an official blessing for your home-rolled "Ubuntu Ultimate" release.
As far as licensed software...
I do not accept any license agreement the "end user" you must accept the license agreement. The script will download it open a terminal for you to accept each piece of software that requires it.
AFAIK some of those proprietary vendors may prohibit distribution without permission for various reasons, such as to be able to monitor the number of downloads (and usage). If your scripts download the original packages from the vendor's site and they've approved of the scripted method it's naturally alright.
The about page has been started actually there are 3 separate pages (have yet to be merged). We now have a webmaster on it. But I can not give you a deadline as to when it will be done. Actually a great portion of the website is incomplete.
I was merely wondering. Contact and About infos are typically expected from a site that offers something as important as a whole distro or scripts to access relatively unknown or unverified repos. A third party repo could push anything to users' machines, especially if there is implied trust. Perhaps crediting Canonical and "their version of Ubuntu" would be worth a link or two as well.

It should not do that it is a problem with the ubuntu-desktop meta package. no bug report filed as most people do not build disks. I will be straight in telling you what I had to do was to whack my current installation (I assume you run feisty) and all went through fine why a live disk scans your current drive / os before being installed especially when some may just want to run it as a live CD. I have no clue. I will not file a bug report there are a bunch filed against it one being that of gaims involvement as well as compiz. The actual package does nothing except its involvement as a live disk as far as I can see, and can be removed once installed without any re-percussion.
I know this is not the answer you were looking for but thought I would post for some of the other users. I apologize I do not have a fix for your situation other then a workaround...
I found a HowTo on setting up a windows / ubuntu network, this evening, a huge howto (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=202605), Ultimate did everything for me (after upgrade and selecting file sharing) to set up a windows network minus setting a password, and the folder I wish to share. I thought I would post a howto :)
Step 1 select the folder you wish to share on the comp Ubuntu Ultimate is installed. Right click hit share... SMB and give it a name or you can leave the name the same see shot 1 & 2 & 3, may add what the windows side looks like later. I assure you this works.
Step 2 open a terminal:
sudo smbpasswd -L -a your_username
replace your_username with your user name on the ultimate system. when it asks for password enter it 3 times. Once for the sudo part and twice to set it.
Step 3 goto your windows machine and grab what you shared ;) It will ask you for a password enter the same password you set.
Amazes even me how much Ultimate has made a difference as far as things that used to take me all day are now a minuscule task ;) This will only get better as time progresses.

For those with video problems...
Envy is in its earily stages, I love the work he has taken on as well the programmer he is an admin here. He has worked hard to make what he has made believe that... Imagine writing software for all computers, at first glance seemingly easy at first glance NVIDIA or ATI... as most computers run, The real question... Primitive or top of the line ATI, NVidia? It is a huge task he has undertaken, there is no guarantee it will work, however an option. I'm sure tseliot (http://www.albertomilone.com/nvidia_scripts1.html)did not believe that his software would be used to help make an os be more forthcoming however has been used twice. Mint uses it in the same fashion. I did ask him prior to release of 1.4, and can upload newer versions to my repo and all benefit instantly. I will let you know does not work on mine SLI (2 X NVidia 7600 GT's), we just opened a new ball of wax there :) Like I said an option at this point.
Never, slam upon him for his work or me I guess because your video drivers do not work. I offer 3 methods of installing drivers from my website, and my god theres probably 1,000 others from just this site. What may work for one may or may not work for you.
I am sorry if I seem like I am being a D*** I just understand what is involved...:guitar:

Heck - there's a lot of people out there interested in UU1.4.
By comparison I'm helping to seed UU1.4CD, and I've already uploaded around 8GB. As a comparison, I'm also currently seeding Mint 3.0 (Cassandra), and I'm yet to reach a share ratio of 0.5 with that one.
And yet, I started seeding both at around the same time.
I'm hoping to keep on seeding for at least up until the end of the week (on both). At the rate it's going, I'll not be surprised to have seeded 20Gb by week's end, barring local outages.
I wonder what the demand will be for the DVD release when/if it's put out.
No wonder you are burning through TB's of data TheeMan !! Thanks again for all your work!

Hello!
First thanks for this great work, the ultimate edition is a very good project!!
But why not make the DVD Edition for UU1.4 Feisty Fawn? I think is THE solution for all the people, who don't have internet. And I know many people, who want to support the OpenSource Philosophy and to change to linux/ubuntu, but they don't have internet because they lives in little villages or somewhere on the earth. All this people can enjoy their favorite mp3s or dvds only with windows, and that is not good if they want to change to linux.
In addition, if you want to convince somebody to try linux, a DVD with all the codecs and programs would be perfect! :)

Just paid to upgrade the repo would have went down by the end of the day...
250GB of traffic in 1 day, I can upgrade it once more to premium but once that is exceeded it will go down.

i have just downloaded the Ultimate CD Edition 1.4 and burned to cd. everything boot properly until I entered the login page.
It asked me for Username and Password! randomly entered several names and passes. No Work.
Any solution? Is this a bug? Or what is exactly the username/pass?
Same exact problem.. And I read the response from TheeMahn, except the machine I'm trying to run the LiveCD on is a WinXP machine, has never had Ubuntu or any linux flavor on it.. I felt like an idiot for not being able to figure out the login and password (tried ubuntu/ubuntu, ubuntu/<blank>, ubuntu/ultimate, root/root, etc.) and searched for about an hour before finally finding this post and realizing I'm not alone.. So I'm going to try pulling the hard drive that is installed (even though it's an NTFS w/ winXP) and see where I end up..
-Dave
Update: Pulled the hard drive, and it boots up no problem.. So i'm going to have to format that drive by another means and try again..

am sorry but 'm new to linux, how hard would it be for me to uninstall x.org 7.2 that comes with the os and install an older one like x.org 7.0 or 7.1 so that i can install the ati legacy driver 8.28.8 since that is the newest and last driver ati will make for my card for linux and it only supports up to x.org 7.1 or at least thats what ati's website says.

I'm betting he's working on it as we speak.

There is an error in the boswars section of the script or with a dependancy problem. it indeed installs boswars-data but not boswars itself this should have been handled as a dependency to boswars-data, however it did not. It will be fixed at the next script update. If you would like it fixed now open a terminal and enter the following:
sudo apt-get install -y --force-yes boswars
Sorry about that...

Thanks for your help in seeding, and of course ccal for setting up torrent. As of current jpfinne has informed me he as seen 16,000 hits on the iso transferring 300 GB, main server:

downloadubuntusoftware.info/ubuntu-ultimate-1.4-cd.iso has been downloaded 21,290 times.
Repo traffic has also increased as the cd does not have it all integrated on the disk any more:

Mirrors? Good question ccal has told me in the past 1.3 had used 16 terabytes, unknown with new release. I will let you know there is 25 people downloading it off ccals mirror as I type this he has a 100 user limit. I have seen this limit get exceeded with the release of 1.3. the Swedish mirror and US I have no clue. Torrent (http://linuxtracker.org/torrents-details.php?id=4323) traffic as of current shows: 191.24 TB. This seems really high but in any case, a whole bunch ;)
1.4 DVD will probably take me a while but none the less will also be released. I would like to give a thanks to everyone interested in this project.
Best regards,
TheeMahn

Anyone care to post a screenshot of ultimate linux with the default theme running Amarok? I am just curious how Amarok looks running when using a dark gnome theme.
I can't wait to try Ultimate Ubuntu. I just dl'd it and will give it a try today.
