I know that right now that Beryl is only for Linux but my friend showed it to me and it really does seems quite cool and i was wondering since as of right now i can't upgrade to Linux though i may use emulation for that if it is possible for Beryl to ever come out for Windows cause it really is quite cool.

It might be known as Aero for Windows but it doesn't come close to Beryl. It would be cool if it could run on Windows but like STREETURCHINE said, I wouldn't put money on it or anything. I don't even know if it would be possible to replace the windows manager since everything in Windows is so tied together and I don't even know for sure if Windows even has a true window manager like Metacity. It would probably involve hacking up Explorer or something. Ok, I'm just rambling....:p

In order to get something like beryl to run on XP/2000 you'd need to hack Windows into outputing it's video in a completely different manner. Just doing this would be a HUGE task, and I can't imagine anyone putting time into it. After that you'd pretty much have to rewrite beryl from scratch to work with the new Windows setup. Frankly it'd never happen.
Vista, on the other hand, can already render itself in a manner similar to what beryl needs, so it is possible that a couple years from now when Vista is more mature and the modding comunity has had a chance to pick at it a bit more, that we'll see a way to substitute something else for Aero, (such as a Beryl clone??). I wouldn't count on it though.

Yod`m will do the cube - but it`s pretty crappy by comparison to beryl.
Toyd is the one worth watching.

At the moment, I don't mind Yod'm too much, although it crashes if I have it as a startup process, is slow even with specs that run full Aero Glass very well and is limited to only four desktops - I use five, so I'm just over. :D
Toy'd does look pretty awesome so far, too, but I haven't actually tried it. :(

You can run a X-Windows manager on Windows using Cygwin, it isn't that difficult. There are even a few ready made ones for you like BlackBox.... However, for Beryl, what will happen with Cygwin and GLX? Does Cygwin support it? I have no idea.

«Switcher» and «Yod'm 3D» for Vista is the closest you get.
Plus, beryl is one of the reasons «n00bs» switch to linux :D

Dark-Ace: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X_window_manager - Beryl is one.
To be honest I think it will be a much bigger headache than its worth, some people run KDE on Windows... I happen to think it is rather pointless, this is entirely a personal opinion, but I think Windows works best the way it was meant to work.... With explorer.exe.
