i went to the starter guide and updated my sources.list, when i go to synaptic to update it downloads really slow like 3700bytes per second, but i can download from other sites at my cap speed (600kb/s)...anyone know when this will be fixed?

There are other mirrors available. If you used the starter guide then I'll assume you are using the us.archive.ubuntu.com server. Try substituting 'archive.ubuntu.com' for each instance of the current mirror name and see if this helps.

I am getting the same error. I have tried to get support for this on the IRC channel, but their efforts, although appreciated, haven't gotten me anywhere....

I have used different mirrors, (au, us, etc) and none of them have fixed it. because I had just installed Ubuntu, I went ahead and reinstalled to see if that would fix it. Ofcourse, it didn't.

Anyone who knows the solution to this problem would be greatly loved by a Ubuntu user who just wants to get his system back up and running. Apt is my favorite but right now apt is running at 3700B/s and my cap is around 650.
