im used to windows classic, frankly kde and gnome annoy me, its all bells and whistles, and everything takes ages to load, animations, graphics, crap. ive been trying some of the supposeedly lightweight stuff but im a total newbie and dont know how to set it up properly
all i want is a full ubuntu desktop with all the applications, but no skins and rubbish...any ideas ? this stuff drove me back to windows (temporarily i hope)
thanks for listening
ps, sorry if this is the wrong forum, i didnt know where to put it

if you want a no frills and quick as hell enviroment i recomend you use blackbox
just go to your terminal, and do a sudo apt-get install blackbox.
And when you login, change the GUI on where it says sessions.
That's it.

My reading has suggested xfce, but you should check them all out for yourself.
