If yes, which ones? How do they work? Like, for example, can I get fullscreen, or my gamepad to work, if it is properly installed?

Thanks for any support.

Cheers.

I used ZSNES with win98, and there is a Linux version of ZSNES (best to find the HOWTO in the customization forum to figure out everything properly). However, because of the slow speed of CPU it gets preeeetty choppy, and I can't seem to use the keyboard to navigate menus all that well. It is an early version, though, but you can get fullscreen on it. (And I don't doubt you have a faster computer than mine. ;))

I believe there's also a Linux version of SNES9x lying around somewhere, too. Best to check with the repository.

EDIT: Oh, bah. This is Warty you're talking about. I was mainly referring to Hoary, but you may still want to try it.

In fact, the version of Ubuntu i'm using is Hoary.

Well, it's been sometime i've been trying Linux, and i tested snes9x with other distributions such as Mandrake and Kurumin. It's works very fine, and there's gamepad support, but there's no gui neither fullscreen support as a normal user.

It's so good to know that zsnes is being ported to Linux, because in my opinion it's the best snes emulator around.

Other emu i've tried with success is gens. It works fine, and i was able to have it run in fullscreen.

I've tried x-mame, but couldn't make it work. Perhaps a little more reading would do the trick.

Well, thanks for you attention.

Cheers.

For Nintendo 64 emulation, there's Mupen64 and possibly 1964!

1964 rocked when I played Nintendo 64 games under Windows. There appears to possibly be a Linux port! It's open source AFAIK.

cps2 emulation never worked for me. Neither did any of my roms on Mame. After a while, I forgot about them.

How did you go about getting Gens to work? Also, do you know if the Mega CD support in Gens works in linux? I've got xmame working with the package xmame-x and this command line:
xmame --rompath /path/to/your/roms --x11 2 --ef2 romname
where x11 2 is windowed mode (change it to 3 for fullscreen) and ef2 is a nice scanlines filter.

Zsnes, Epsxe (Playstation one) and xmame all rock under hoary at least.
