Well I relatively new to Ubuntu, but I have a question in regards to whether or not anyone has tried using the alesis multimix usb 2.0 in Ubuntu of any kind, but more specifically Ubuntu Studio.
It's the latest in the multimix series, and it seem the original usb was able to be utilized with relatively small effort. And it also seemed the firewire edition was, as it stands, without a quick fix or any fix at the moment.
So just curious if anyone knows anything on this, and even who out there are currently using the original usb multimix, and to what end.
Thanks.

all firewire based cards are supported under linux through the ffado project. They should be able to answer your questions about linux support.

Are really all firewire based cards supported through ffado? I got the impression that only three cards are actively supported, with another 20 or so reported to work and others not tested yet, or tested and not working.
I thought the only ones that should work even if they are not yet reported to work are the ones with the BeBob firmware, others, such as for example the M-Audio FireWire 410 do not work.
Still, for those that are supported or reported to work, do they really work 100%? I'd like to buy one, but I want to be sure that I will be able to use it. (I'm asking since there is still a disclaimer on the ffado wiki about the ffado driver not being much more than a proof of concept which does so far have success)

i have a alesis multimix 12 USB
and to my surprise it is recognised , i used it but had latency problems
but i need some more power (cpu & ram)
now i installed the realtime kernel , so i will just give it a try again
and after i purchase the p4 processors , i 'll give it a try again
i hope alesis get's some support, then i don't have to buy a m-audio , but if not well i'll get it...

Hello, I'm new here, just looking for some info on my Alesis Multimix 8USB, it's about 2 years old, I use it now for live performing but have used it for recording. My problem is the first 3 channels do not work properly.. high static and un-usable. I am stuck with using channel 4 for a mic and channel 5 which is not XLR, I have to use an adapter..... has anyone experienced a channel going out and if so, how did you fix it? I have opened the unit up to see if there are any visible signs of anything burned out, I'm no electrician, I could not find anything... how would you go about fixing something like this??? Any advice would be appreciated.
