Three weeks ago, I saw much Linux material on the software shelves of the Fry's on Arques in Silicon Valley. Today (May 22, 2007) there is NONE. Does anybody know about this? Strange that a retail store would take an anti-linux stand.

I live very nearby there. They haven't had too many books on anything compared to there GRand Opening days. Could it just be that people are buying more on-line. Do you know the bookstore on El Camino on Fair Oaks (I think)? Not sure if It's B&N. They have a good collection of computer books.

What kind of Linux material are you talking about? A copy of SuSE?

To clarify, I could find NO books on Linux in any form or flavor. They appear to have pulled it all.

They may have moved the linux stuff from in store to website only.

Maybe they sold out. Linux's popularity is on the rise.

Exactly. I know I bought a bunch at my local B&N (though I didn't clean them out - I'm just a poor teacher).

the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.
the volume of the liquid is half the capacity of the glass (see you can still split it)

Went back to Frys and they now have Linux again. about one bookshelf worth of stuff, same as I remember from before. Maybe all of the books had to go into the back for a polish.???

The glass is half full.
The glass features an anti-spilling mechanism to reduce spillage. It is an ease of use feature.

the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.
I used to work in a factory, and in a company meeting they said what you said and explained how they were going to start trimming down to get the glass where it needs to be. They thought a clever little saying would make us happy about it. They were wrong.

I went into a Fry's a couple of times when I lived in Silicon Valley.
Dimly lit, shelves haphazardly-stocked, blurry line between "new" & "used", generally a flea-market feel to it - I don't know why the place is so popular. :?

the flea-market feel attracts deal-seeking nerds.
