how do a "repair install"?

My server crasched, something like "kernel panic...." it dont start at all.

Is it possible to do a repairinstall of some kind? I'm thinking like windows where it just repair the broken stuff but but dont change too much of my settings?

I have a LVM set up and cant get to the data on it via some live CD, otherwise I should have started from the begining a loooong time ago. ](*,)

try just inserting the cd and doing just a server reinstall, that might work, if not then you have to start from scratch

Tryied that, but it just starts on a new install wiht partititioning the harddrives. I have relese 4.

Try a reinstall and at the prompt write 'expert' and then you skip the partioning part.
