Does anyone remember starcraft:ghost? The game blizzard canceled right as it neared completion because it "wasn't up to blizzard standards?" Anyone think there's any chance they'd release the code for it? Seems like they might as well not waste all that development time.
Then again, there's no real reason why they would.
Just a thought, and probably a bad one at that, but honestly i'd love to get my hands on that game even if it sucked.

Developers of all kinds of software, including games / entertainment, reuse code.

A lot.

So even if Ghost did not get published, you are sure to find that they re-used portions of the code in later products, and even it may contain portions of code of other earlier products.

Releasing that code under an open-source license is fraught with risks, and since they are in the business of making money, there is little if any incentive and much preventing them from releasing "unpublished works"
