IDLE blocking input???

I have a show-stopper problem with IDLE. Before it was working fine. Now, whenever I try to save what I've written, I can't type anything. I can type in other apps, just not IDLE. I can't save what I've written and thus can't run the code! Does ANYONE have any idea what could be causing this or how to solve it?

Did you installed some program recently or did any other system changes?

Nope no error message. I can't think of anything I've installed that would interfere like this. IDLE worked perfectly in Edgy. Not quite sure what's going on for it to just stop allowing typing mid-word.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling (purging) and no luck.

It's fair to say that I've installed a lot but it's mostly just testing games. It seems to be a really bizarre error and I don't know what to do!
