Hiya!!
Can anybody please help me? I have a used XBOX HD (8 gig) which I'm planning to use on my PC.
Does anyone here know if I can use DBAN (Nuke) to wipe all info on it? The HD is locked by default and I cannot unlock it to use for PC.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

theres various ways of doing it, most require hot swapping. http://www.llamma.com/xbox for all your xbox modding needs

Alright... i'm a xbox modder, and you can use a xbox harddrive in your computer or any other device, it just has to be unlocked. Since from what you said, the drive is locked, I dunno if it would work. The only way I know of getting access to a xbox harddrive is to unlock it first, or use the xbox to boot, and unlock there, using config magic or something.
You can always try, but I think once you try the DBAN or whatever, I think you will see it has troubles reading the harddrive.
If you have the key or xbox eeprom.bin file from the xbox that the harddrive is taken from... you can use a nifty program from ldots called xboxhdm. A linux bootcd which has unlocking, locking and formating options for xbox or new harddrives.

Darkoptix & Wildtangent,
Thank you very much for your response. I got a bootdisk to unlock the xbox HD but problem is when you reboot the settings you've made is also erased.
I'll try some other things tonite. Again, thank you very much and hope to catch you again on my Linux box (coz I'm on windows now)

depending on how how you moddwed your xbox, some tools will set the master password to a known password so you dont lose all your data if the motherboard fails. two passwords i can think of are TEAMASSEMBLY and XBOXSCENE set by config magic and xboxhdm respectivley. if you used one of those tools to edit your eeprom or HD then you might be able to unlock it with one of them. other wise you need a copy of the xbox's eeprom or the xbox itself to unlock it.
edit: if you get the xboxhdm it can unlock the harddrive permanently if you know the password.

I've been saved by those passwords once or twice...
