I am about to set up a web server.
I like the option of the LAMP install from the CD.
I've heard warnings not to go with Ubuntu Server but I enjoy the Ubuntu system and have heard mixed reviews of Ubuntu Server. I'm a big Debian fan and that would be my other server choice.
Question is, am I right in going with Ubuntu Server (with LAMP install) and also should I use 7.04 or 6.06LTS?

For a start don't listen to those idiots that say to stay away from UBUNTU Server
I find UBUNTU servers stable(I use them in my business and for web development) and if you can handle the command line a little you will have no problem its a great learning curve
I currently run a 6.10 edgy server and 7.04 server ( server edtion only)
this is a great installation guide there are guides for all versions just replace the 704 with what ever 610 or 602

One thing to be real careful with is to make sure you get every repository downloaded completely some times they can be skipped just be thorough
LTS means long term support I think 6.02LTS is supported till 2011as so many people use it still
I prefer to keep updated and usually have a couple of servers so for me 7.04 Fiesty Fawn I have had no problems with installation and Also samba server works fine contrary to some forums once again must be careful on installation
