In order to get themes like that you need (afaik) libwxgtk2.6 which is only in debian experimental and not something that should be backported even when it does hit breezy.

Waiting for wxwidgets2.6 to enter breezy and for a vlc sync from sid (has to pass through upstream version freeze) to work on this.

vlc has missed the merge from sid deadline and so 0.8.2 will not be in breezy.
