iBook 600 EXTREMELY slow cd-boot 6.06

Hello, I have a iBook G3 600, i am trying to boot Ubuntu 6.06. The thing is that when it gets to the gnome loading panel, it like pauses, but my cd is spinning like crazy. It gets stuck on loading nautilis, i left it for like 20 minutes. Is there a way to install without going on live cd?

Get the alternative ppc install cd. This installs in text mode. (Same install process, just no pretty pictures.)

Thanks, I will look into that, But I can't really burn another cd(cd drive broke in Mac Mini)

Okay, I have installed with the alternate cd, but command line only. It got stuck on 6% when I tried with GUI. Now it wont start a X session. I get: XIO: fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0" after 0 requests(0 known processed) with 0 events remaning
