Hi, I run AMD-64 bit Feisty. As a newbie I just put in the two lines stated for 32-bit Feisty and of course fell on the mouth because invalid architecture. Can I do something with kinda --force-architecture there? How would the lines look for the 64-bit sources.list entry and the install?

Thanks

Nathalie

There's no 64bit iso with that release. This does not mean you can't manually install the programs.

Do a clean install of standard ubuntu 64bit, and manually install the programs you need using the list in the link below.
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuStudio/PackageList

Most of the packages are already in the regular feisty repos.

What lines? Where did you get them?

This is the method used to upgrade 32bit ubuntu to studio, however. it will not work for 64bit.

The best way to do it is the manual way using the list i posted. As there's no 64bit meta packages for ubuntu 64.

You might want to check out the 64Studio distro. It's base is not Ubuntu but Debian 4.0, however all is 64 bit. You'll see many similarities (as well as differences).

@Jouke74: Thanks, I am doing just that, downloading the 1.3.0 and give it a try. (To sew it all together alone, there I feel a bit meeky about still.)

Thanks

Thank you very much.

I already have a 64-bit installation (end April I done it), but I installed a Kubuntu version, apt-getting the ubuntu desktop and the xfce desktop afterwards, so now I have quite of a drilling based on Kubuntu.

I shall give the list a try. If I do not succeed I erase the partition, install a clean ubuntu64 and then try the list. And if I still do not succeed I come back and ask for some more help :-)

For 32 bit, can I use some, and exclude ubuntustudio-desktop ?
