3 Easy Steps:
1) Either use Linux or go back to Windows, it's one or the other, you can't have both.
> If you can not decide, then leave Linux, go with Windows, have a nice day.
... because I'm looking for a nice little mmorpg, and all I see is wine after wine after wine thread.
forget it, get outta here, just use windows.

No some ppl want to run unix based OS without viruses and crap but still want to play a few games we love such as myself. Wine, Cedega and Crossover Pro have treated me just fine and I dont plan on going back to windows honestly.

I quit recently too - the game just bores me, it is so very linear, when you look at it in terms of other games.
I am actually playing Ultima Online again (11 years old now I think!) on a player shard; www.defianceuo.com, a pub 15/16 clone, very active server with good staff, active IRC server, and custom events run by staff (Capture the Flag, Gladiator, Bomberman, Poker, etc, etc)
As well as all the usual UO stuff....... just gotta love it :)

Don't need both. If I want to play a game developed for ms windows I do it under wine. And no I will not downgrade my computer by putting ms windows on it. Now go play with yourself troll.

For me, its a transition thing. Now that I am a linux user, I will only buy hardware/software that runs in linux. So games like UT2007, quake wars, and a few others are the ones I am going to buy in the future. The problem is that a year ago I was a windows user, and freely bought games that ran on windows. Now that I have switched, I dont want to just throw away my old games. If they run in wine, then I can still play them. If they dont, then the can just sit there until they do work in wine. Star wars Jedia academy, and WoW run just fine under wine...in fact, WoW under wine might be better than windows because I can run an IM client on top of it, or play it in a window while I check thottbot...or my email. I see no noticable difference in game quality. Although my copy of Half life 2, and oblivion have yet to be tested on wine. But the slightly older games play great on it. So why not? Wine doesnt make things difficult to use, installs are just as easy as on windows. Why would I want to reboot into windows to do something that works well under linux? Well, unless you like waiting 30 minutes for windows to boot, then download 7 security updates, and 13 patches for your antivirus....but hey, if thats what you like, more power to ya!

Going from the amount of crap I hear in Wine channels, it's simply that most people that use Wine want a free Windows without viruses. When they hear that Wine wont run their app or it's too hard, they get bitchy and storm off back to Windows.

I just dual boot to a stripped-down version of Windows for playing games that don't run native. Way less hassle.
Actually, I have a triple boot setup. I've got another install of Windows for when I need to really get work done in Adobe's Creative Suite.
