I know that Beryl and Frostwire don't play nice with eachother. Are the programs not compatible at the same time, or can I use Beryl without accessing Frostwire? If I install Beryl and choose to run KDE instead of XGL, will there be a problem with Frostwire?

Frostwire runs on java. Beryl and java aren't allways good friends.
I have a same issue with compiz (~beryl) and netbeans (runs on java).

To overcome the problem, you could try using another p2p program ?

Yes, but... Can the two co-exist peacefully if only one is running at a time? For example... I know I'll be using Frostwire so I load up KDE at Splash so there will be no problems; but when I won't be using Frostwire, I can load up XGL and play with Beryl. Is that feasible?

Basically, I just need to know if I load up Beryl, will it know Frostwire is there (albeit not running), and thus wreak havoc on my Session?

If Beryl is not running then it wont matter. You can even disable Beryl temporarily and then re-activate it without restarting your computer or KDE/Gnome..

And just to be sure you know, you dont need to disable XGL.. You just need to disable Beryl while using Frostwire, then reenable it after you're done. If you use the beryl-manager icon in your task bar, you can right-click it and change your window manager temporarily using that to disable Beryl, then do the same thing to re-enable it.
