mPlayer plug-in for firefox

System76 Sable, Ubuntu Fiesty, cable broadband access

I like to browse music pages and play the clips offered by such sites as Amazon.com or even those offered on the sites of music groups. Typically they only provide for Windows media player or Realplayer. The mplayer plugin will start up but is very slow to play or will not play at all. Is there an adjustment I can make or is it just a frustration I have to accept in Ubuntu/linux?

I had a similar problem a while back.
Mine turned out to be a conflict between mplayer and totem's movie player.
