I want a special entry in GDM's Session menu. Thats session is to be absolute minimal on resource, similiar to the "Failsafe terminal" session but in 640x480 at 8bits depth. Its sole purpose will be to play my old SNES games at full speed (with snes9x) (eh dont laugh, my current computer is really slow and old.. it need it ;))

What about a dedicated runlevel that does just that? Load the least modules and services possible and startx at 640x480 @ 8bits depth. Im sure thats possible but my lack of know-how call for support from the pros.

Any takers?!?

personally, to use the absolute least, i used to just use wdm instead of gdm and start a failsafe terminal and excute the game from there; and use rcconf to change what starts up. I guess if you really wanted 640x480 and an 8bit colour depth, you could just change the settings in your xorg.conf

I have a post asking info on xfc and xfc4. They are low imprint managers. The hole purpose to set it up so you can log out log into Xfce from the main screen and set it up just to list games and launch games with a mininum footprint.
