sorry , i thought that you knew the minimal....well, the problem is that , when you click in a file.run by default gnome opens the text editor.
So you can change that in configurations of gnome.
In your case(beginner) , you should use the terminal and run padman from it.
Put the file in your home directory, open the terminal and write "sh name_of_the_file.run"
That sould do it :)

Have you set up the 3D driver for your card properly? If not, you may try search the forum regarding ATI x cards.

I dunno if this is helpful: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=414194 or http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=438008
If you have a Nvidia somewhere I strongly recommend you use that instead.

i tried to do the thing with the xorg.conf , and royaly screwed things up. i couldnt even start ubuntu. i ended up just reformating my hard drive, and reinstalling ubuntu.
i have a nvida geforce 2 laying around. but i dont think that will do me much good.
i might just go get a cheap/decent nvidia card

I just installed world of padman. I have also installed several other games. I am having problems with these games going full screen. I have no control of the mouse and I end up restarting because that is the only way I know to get out of it.
sauerbraten works about 25% of the time.
On the other hand Open arena, alien arena, postal 2 free edition multi player works great.
I would like to know what is stoping them from going full screen.
I turned off my compiz fusion and it still happens.

It's easiest to install it by going to getdeb.net and downloading the two .deb files. Install the "data" .deb first, then the other one. The game is fantastic, by the way.
