Don't know...
I tried real player for Linux 2 years ago. I got it semi working on Fedora Core 5, but it was fairly useless on their, and i wasn't able to get it working on Ubuntu 5.something from the binaries anyway.
My advice is to use something else. I use Amarok for my all my listening needs and I love it!!! Out of all the media players on all the OSs that I have come across, amarok is my favorite. Try a few different players, a fair amount of the ones in the repo's are pretty good.
If you absolutley MUST HAVE real player I would try compiling from source... you can get the source from the Helix community here:
https://player.helixcommunity.org/2005/downloads/
your likely better off with something else though... If its file formats your worried about, between Ubuntu restricted extras and Gstreamer you can play almost everything.
Best of luck...
FYI, this part of the forum is for multimedia production stuff (like audio, video, graphics creation)... the Multimedia and video forum suits this question better.

Thanks a lot Pocadotty! I started using Ubuntu since 4.04. In 5.04 Realplayer worked just fine. I got all the other
medium players which can play .rm format music.
It is always a good idea to compile the application from source code by ourselves.
Your suggestion is also a good idea and worth to try.
Cheers!
