I installed Eclipse and tried running a simple Hello World program in C and it can't compile while in Eclipse. I get the error message "launch failed no binaries" upon compiling.

Now I know it has something to do with Eclipse and not my compiler because if I were to try compiling on the command line with "gcc" it works. I did do some research and most of these errors are happening in windows where you have to change the environment variables to fix the problem. Does Ubuntu allow you to change the environment variables?

Any ideas on what is causing this strange error?

You have to select a binary to run in that windows that appears when you press the run button.

For me, I have to hit control+S / save... and it includes my imported binaries...

Yep, thanks it was about saving the project and rebooting Eclipse.
