A bigger market is for Tux T-shirts, or Scott T-shirts from CAD www.cad-comic.com

You have to get permission for Canonical first. It is their property (the logo and name)

That makes sense.. but do you have to get permission from Linus Torvalds to make a Linux t-shirt? He owns a trademark on the name 'LInux'.
...and while I'm thinking about it, would a tattoo artist have to get permission to do a Ubuntu tattoo? He would be making money off it (not that I'm going to get one, I'm just curious).

You're right...
This is from wikipedia:
Torvalds has stated that he only trademarked the name to prevent someone else from using it, but was bound in 2005 by United States trademark law to take active measures to enforce the trademark. As a result, the LMI sent out a number of letters to distribution vendors requesting that a fee be paid for the use of the name, and a number of companies have complied
It seems odd that trademark law forces you to take active measures to enforce trademarks. Is anyone lobbying congress to have this changed? The FSF seems like a likely candidate, but I'm not sure if they have any presence in Washington.. All I've ever seen from them are campaigns to increase public awareness.
Is there anyone trying to make congress aware of FLOSS?

I wuz thinkin of puttin in da following words...
sudo apt-get install = fxxx microsoft
hehe
dont need any licenses for that.
Man! people get too worked up about copyright. A travelling musician who stayed at my house told me, one time ALL music was free. People made music and danced to it, not to make money, but for the enjoyment of people who listened to it. He makes music n videos n jus gives it away!!! Admire such people.
