Greeting, I typed an invalid directory trying to visit the forum, and was greeted with this error message:

It seems the Ubuntu forums are running on IIS! I don't know what to say, I'm speechless.

Don't believe me? Type this in your browser window. http://ubuntuforums.org/%5C

Well, I bet the forum host is not owned by Canonical. It's probably a paid account and thus, the issue of the o/s is out of the hands of Canonical.

The forum software they are using might have customized its 404 to look like IIS :lolflag:

That's vBulletin's default 404 message.

It doesn't. As was mentioned, that's a vBulletin thing, not a IIS thing.

What's more startling is the domain name registrar:

"Sponsoring Registrar:Go Daddy Software, Inc."

That is the default vb error page.

UbuntuForums.org is running on Ubuntu servers provided by Canonical.

(until you hear otherwise from ubuntu-geek)
