List Your Favorite Space Empire Buidling Games

I am looking for a game similar to Space Empires IV and V. Something not too complex that a game could be played in under a day, with singleplayer and good AI, and maybe even multiplayer options.

If we could compile a list of the top rated and most favorite space empire galactic civilization building games for linux, please feel free to start listing them below. Please include at least a link to the game and any supporting documentation, and/or tell us what you did to get it working on Ubuntu. Any games that would be free would be a plus.

Hmmmm. X2:The Threat and X3: Reunion come to mind (3 port isnt out yet).

Those might be similar to what your talking about.

Homeworld also comes to mind as well (both 1 and 2 play relatively well in Wine).
