I ran across this while link-surfing... http://www.apcstart.com/6034/hot_damn_dell_to_bundle_linux
Looks like Dell picked Ubuntu after all... it's not official yet, but it's popping up at various sites.

It's official actually. There's been a lot of hype building out, and Dell officially announced that Ubuntu was the Distro they chose after IdeaStorm, because it was the most requested, by a long shot.
Check out the direct2Dell blog, there's a video with Mark Shuttelworth

Hopefully this will be a big push for more mainstream support, I want my X-FI linux drivers already. :x

I've got a Dell Latitude D520 (N series) which came with no operating system on it. I liked that idea, but I like it even more now that Dell is going to have computers with Ubuntu on them.
Oh, by the way, etank, you had a typo in the URL. Here's the real one:
http://www.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/ubuntu?c=us&cs=19&l=en&
You had Ubuntu spelled as "unbuntu" in the URL.

My bad. I thought that was a copy & paste from the Dell site. Oh well, you found what I was referring to.
