You can very easily use either. 64-bit will allow you to access both cores to their full extent, whereas with i386 you'll take a performance hit, but this is only on very intensive processes, which might not occur often for you, depending on your computing habits. Check out the x86 forums and see how you like the community there; I personally think they're a great bunch and I really like using 64-bit.

I recently switched to i386, thinking I was having trouble installing my wireless drivers because of the build, but nay, same results on i386. =( So good luck! I can't recommend against 64-bit, but do check out the x86 forums so you know what you're in for. ;)
