Trying to install and boot up on ubuntu cd but when I choose Start or install Ubuntu, it is stuck in "LOADING" screen and it doesnt seem to go pass that and proceed with the install.

It seems to not work on all options when I choose and stuck again in "Loading" except the Memory Test which in fact ran and tested my memory.

Can someone help?

Running on P4 Dell Optiplex GX270
512MB RAM

Thanks.

What speed did you burn the cd at?

I would recommend downloading the alternate cd iso. You get the same end product, but the install is text based. For some reason the live cd wouldn't work on my machine, but the alternate did, so I'd recommend the same for you!

Hope this helps!

Same problem here.

I burnt at the absolute slowest screen. I will get that "loading" in the top left for a fraction of a second and then it goes dark black and then black. Then it sits idle.

I had that problem with the beta version. Thought it was just because it was a beta

Again, I recommend trying the alternate install disc!

I personally use http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/releases.ubuntu.com/7.04/

but if you're not in Europe, I would recommend looking on http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/downloadmirrors for a closer mirror!

Hope this helps!

I got the alternate install "text based" installation and ran it. The install ran however been getting errors such as Debootstrap warning files were corrupt.

Any ideas on why this is happening?

Thnx!

On side note: I had problems burning the ISO on this darn thing, it kept saying that the CD is not compatible with the iso file or something...I found a workaround which I have used another burning software (cheetah) - was using Roxio Sonic.

Do you think it had something to do with this is the first place that might have currupted my cd? Thnx!

Information on this site may correct your problems http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download. Go down to the bottom of the page and select a download site and download the ISO.

Then goto https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto and download the installer Infra Recorder it is free follow the directions. If you have any data you want to save just save it, check and make sure all your hardware is attached then do a clean install. Then download and install Automatix2

You be good to go
