RAM Questions

Hi. Looking at a notebook purchase in the next few months.

The Darter looks perfect, except for the RAM situation. I want something highly portable, for video and audio editing. So I need a Core 2 Duo processor, and more than 1 gig of RAM, preferably 2 gig. The Gazelle is bigger than I would prefer, but I will consider it if the Darter can't meet my needs.

Questions:

1. Is the Darter MOBO dual-channel?
2. If yes to #1, is the RAM only dual-channel when in matched pairs (i.e. 2x512mb) or would the 1gb and 512mb RAM be close enough of a match to run as dual-channel?
3. The Gazelle is available with 2gb of RAM. Does that RAM run as dual-channel?

I have the same question, but about the serval. If you are changing the serval model, then could you answer based on the new coming model? Also, do you have an ETA on the new serval? Really anxious to order one in the next couple of weeks if they come in.

The Darter comes with 512M built in and has only one memory card slot. Thus the 1.5G RAM.

I think both Darter and Gazelle are dual channel. I'll have to look that up.

Regarding the Serval, I can't say anything with certainty yet. I know it's a pain, but we are still waiting for the details ourselves. Sorry.
