Download counter?

Does anyone else think it would be a nice addition to ubuntu.com to have a download counter? Similar to that found on the VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) homepage.

Have you read, http://www.videolan.org/stats/downloads.php

We would have a similar problem, the download counter would only be able to show downloads of the cd sets via the main pages, not any installs via the network.
