Why not try Point2Play, that can be downloaded from the Cedega web site.
you can tweak game settings in graphical mode.

you can setup cedega to run a windowed mode 'desktop' by editing the config file.

in the [x11drv] section

;"Desktop" = "800x600"

just uncomment or add your own resolution.
