Can anyone suggest a hex editor like khexedit for Gnome? I know I could just apt-get it, but I'd have to pull in all the KDE stuff as well - seems like a lot for a simple hex edit session.

I put this in the programming area 'cos I can't see what other sort of person would actually want to use a hex editor, except maybe people who like to tweak high-score tables...

There are plenty of console ones you could use (search for hex editor in synaptic in description). But for a gnome one, you'll have to get it outside of Ubuntu. This one: http://home.gna.org/bless/ seems pretty nice, but requires mono, so you'll have to install that first. I figure if you can handle a hex editor, you should be able to install it :D.

ghex could make the job. I use it when necessary,
