Is there an alternative to GAIM for LInux? If so, what is it?

amsn for msn, ymessenger for yahoo, kopete for both ..

there's also skype, but I've never used it.

Or use a Jabber client such as Psi, Sim, Gabber and use the gateways they provide

Gossip looks very clean, too bad it's jabber only and I don't know anyone that uses jabber. :(
