lmao. Man, ever since I made that first reply, I've been googling to figure out how to make my own XFCE splash with some of those. Your link inspired me, and it seems you as well. I actually made one splash theme, but it's crap (see attached).

If any XFCE users want to try it out, just open up the "Splash Settings" window, click "Balou" > Configure, and then drag that .gz into the window. Then you can go back and test it.

Mine is pretty simple:
- Grub splash: http://www.schultz-net.dk/images/grub/ubuntu_grey.gif (from http://www.schultz-net.dk/grub.html )
- Splashy theme: http://www.linuxeu.de/images/wallpaper/ubuntu/ubuntu2.jpg
- GDM theme: my Dreaming of Ubuntu ( http://www.gnomelook.org/content/show.php?content=24907 ) with the same Splashy background
- Splash image -after GDM-: same Splashy one
- Wallpaper: black. (it just needs to stay black lol).

I've already grabbed several of them. I tend to prefer the muted, understated wallpapers. Unless I'm using some of the Hubble or Chandra pics.

Thanks! These are excellent. I seem to be gathering quite a collection of quality backgrounds...which is good cause I change 'em almost daily. Must be the artist in me.

You need something like that KDE tool changes wallpapers automatically ;), even fetching them from the net. I keep it simple: black.

Its the other way around. I think the one gal made the logo look better. :grin:
