Are there any tycoon games (open transport tycoon is a good example), or maybe something like entrepreneur was one game I would definitely want to see on my ubuntu. Or maybe lincity-ng is good example (lincity however crashes on me :( )

So what other good tycoon games are there?

FreeTrain (http://freetrain.sourceforge.net/) is coming along nicely though not yet available for Linux. Need to chase down some SDL/C# gurus.

I could give it a whirl (when I'm done setting my feisty up and running).
No promises...

SVN and VS2005 needed at the moment. It's frustrating because it is a very complete game apart from 1) no build yet and 2) no linux port and 3) no levels so the learning curve is kinda vertical.

Hopefully all 3 issues will get addressed in the next few months. :-)

Lincity is very unstable in itself, and it would probably be worse if you ported it. Se how much you can run with Wine (http://www.winehq.org/).

P.S. I got this sweet version of Skate Park Tycoon for free, maybe you can run it under Wine if I send you the ISO and you burn it.

What are talking about with "porting" and "wine"? Lincity got a native Linux version (http://lincity-ng.berlios.de/wiki/index.php/Download/Installation#Linux), and is available at the repositories (apt:lincity-ng,lincity-ng-data).

Open Theme Hospital (http://www.mobstar.biz/openTH/) is coming along nicely. Theme Hospital was my favorite game in that series, and it looks like they are doing a good job. Should be available around August or September.

There are a few Dungeon Keeper ports/remakes, but none of them seem to be progressing far enough along to point out.

I am really hoping for a Sims Open Source game.

Those are not OpenSource games, therefore you have to pay for 'em.

Simutrans (http://www.simutrans.com) is great. Similar idea to OpenTTD (build a transport network and help the cities and industries grow), but the simulation engine is much more detailed (for example, passengers all have a destination). It is missing the multiplayer elements of OpenTTD however.
