I have used these forums successfully in lynx before, when I needed to get help on a problem, or needed to look something up. So consider my surprise, when I tried to use it today, to look up a command, to fix my fiesty upgrade (or commands), because I'm forced to use proprietory nvidia drivers so that I get dual-screen.
Too much content: I don't need telling to log in. I don't need feedback and help. If I'm using a text browser, sure as nothing I'm not your bog standard pc user.
Bad navigation: I couldn't get anywhere quickly. The nav is just broken. The canononical stuff was at the top, and you had no "skip to links", which I had to spend ages wandering down random content till I found the "Search" link. To see a site which does it properly, try visiting encryptec.net in lynx. See at the very top? Skip to content. Skip to Navigation. Nice. Easy, isn't it? And, the search box is under your cursor (if you like) when you hit navigation. Skip to links are STUPIDLY easy to implement, at least. Either that, or have it so that YOUR MAIN MENU is at the top of the screen, not Ubuntu's generic site links.
Broken Search. I searched for "Fiesty Nvidia FX 5200 Drivers" and it redirects me. I tell lynx (which is paranoid) to proceed, and bingo, I get told I need to wait 8 seconds before I can search again. WHAT? Ok, so then I try and use the google beta. Also broken, I can't get my cursor to land on the "Submit" button. In the end, I gave up, and went and ran reconfigure so that I could at least use the GUI to search the forums
*Goes off to try and find instructions for compiling Nvidia drivers in Fiesty*
