How come most of all new laptops come with a pentium processor that less than 2.0 GH. is this a special kind of processor for laptops. How can I convert the speed of say (1.7) into the speed of normal pentium.

hmm well i have a pentium m 1.6ghz... it performs as well as my friends pentium 4 2.6ghz....... so i would try to guess somewhere between 1ghz and 800mhz to up the speed.... also the pentium is a much better processor for laptops...

the pentium Ms are actually much more powerful than P4s, and in some cases, even the AMD Athlon 64 FX-55

this (http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/20050525/index.html) article explains it in better detail, with pretty graphs :)

Pentium Ms are Pentium 3 chips with all the new technologies intel learned during the Pentium 4 days bolted on. Its the savior of Intel (whose main devs laid the egg called Itanium).
