I have a Pangolin Value that I just bought in November, and the other day I accidentally wiped the hard drive. So I figured I'd try to reinstall Debian again (I'm not using Ubuntu), but it won't boot from the DVDs I burned. I found that odd, so I popped in a CD. The only CD it will boot from is the one that isn't supported by the ethernet card (Realtek ethernet, 2.6.1? kernel).

Do you have any ideas why my laptop would be doing this?

Also note at the BIOS boot screen it is recognized as:

CDROM:SS-HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-40

I'm not sure if this is wrong or anthing, but it seems different from what it used to be written as (Although I really can't remember, it's been so long since I've used the boot menu)
