While this is amazing work, and you are an amazing artist, I think this might be too busy for a wallpaper.
Why not keep it simple. What if you changed the ubuntu logo:
http://www.ubuntu.com/themes/ubuntu07/images/icon-ubuntu.png
and instead of the circles, you put vinyl records.
That's amazing work, but just too....I dunno if busy is the right word even. It's just.....I dunno...lol. I'm not feelin it.

what you could do is have the "studio" be flat, like it would be the complete background for the wallpaper, but still 3d, but not tilted, like you are looking straight down on it, with the logo in the middle of where the vinyl record would go.

Yeah I plan on making slip mats with the blue ubuntu logo on them but I'll get around to that later here is a new render with a led light made up of a glint or halo and a spotlight scaled down to led size

Yeah that's been bugging me to I'll make it longer and a little more detailed later
this is still a draft I might even model a mixer guitar keyboard everything studio related and make a larger scene out of everything

i think it looks kind of cool, but i personally prefer simple, elegant wallpapers...right now i'm using the infamous mushroom wallpaper from digitalblasphemy :)
