Here is the Syllable (http://www.syllable.org) feature list - What are the 4-5 features where Vanders and co are miles most ahead of Ubuntu according to you?

* Booting usually takes less than ten seconds
* A full GUI is built into the OS
* Support for a wide range of common hardware devices, including video, network, and sound cards from manufacturers such as Intel, AMD, 3Com, nVidia, and Creative (see Syllable Hardware for a complete list)
* Internet access through an Ethernet network (though PPP and PPPoE are not yet supported)
* A graphical web browser (ABrowse) and e-mail client (Whisper), and hundreds of other native applications (see Kamidake for a complete list)
* A journalled file system, modelled on the BeOS file system
* An application launcher (like the Windows Start button)
* 99% POSIX compliance
* GUI-based preferences tools for networking, display preferences, user administration, etc.
* The entire source is available via the GPL
* An object-oriented programming API

The A full GUI being built in I guess. Then again, that is not something I really want.

Yeah, who wants to be locked in to a specific GUI? Having the ability to go from a full-featured desktop (KDE) to a barebones, quick responding desktop (Fluxbox) and anything in between is a great feature that Syllable should consider.

The boot time should be nice, but there are linux alternatives in the works (eInit, which I have tried and booted in mere seconds). So basically, linux should not worry about what syllable or windows or OSX or any other OS is doing, because they are doing well for themselves and should just keep making linux better in whatever ways linux users want.

What is syllable supposed to be? Desktop? Experimental OS?

Desktop operating system. There's a Live CD over at www.syllable.org.

BTW, this thread was actually a parody of the "What are the ultimate features of (OS X | Windows Vista) that Ubuntu needs?" posts.
