World of Warcraft under linux [Archive]

I am trying to run World of Warcraft on linux with wine. But all that happens is that i get a ton of error messages in the consol window i am launching the game from. And then the WoW client crashes and shows some error messages.
If anyone could help me i would greatly appreciate it

Hi,

i play WoW on Ubuntu for more than 2 month and it runs great. But i really recommend not to use wine. If you want to play WoW there are two ways:

- the first method is to use a commercial version wich is called Point2Play. But its very easy to install and you have a comfortable menu programm to install and configure. It can be purchase on www.transgaming.com

- if you dont want to pay for this software there is another way to get WoW to run. This transgaing software could be downloaded for free as a CVS version. Someone wrote a Shelscript which allows you easily to install and compile that cvs verion. You can gat this script here: http://winecvs.linux-gamers.net/index.php/Main_Page

i bought Point2play and got WoW to work in less than a half hour. Another reason why i bought it is, that they have done good work and you have great support at the offical transgaming forum at www.transgaming.org. Every update of WoW they do quick fixes in less than 12 hours. If you do not have access you will have much trouble after every WoW Update.

There is no other way that i know to get WoW to work without loosing your fun on WoW.

Do you have OpenGL 3D acceleration working in other games/programs? If you do have you got OpenGL support compiled in WINE?

Also have you read this howto (http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-246098.html) ?
