So, I'm running Ubuntu. I currently am not employed. I currently am not in any sort of school. And I currently have no friends. As a result, I am rather bored. What fun stuff can I do on GNU/Linux just to pass the time?

Learn some programming. Python. Between college and the forums, I'm reading some of it myself.

In times like those, I like to test myself by wiping out my MBR and partition table and see how fast I can restore it. Half the fun of using Linux is poking a stick at different things you know completely nothing about, and seeing what bites back. Try it! You might just like it! I'm currently restoring my Grub "menu.lst" after a flukey Debian install. I think I'll round things out for the evening with a "sudo rm -rf /". That's how I roll...

I actually fixed a problem in GRUB that was preventing my computer from booting, just yesterday. And I've tried to learn various programming languages lately, but I can't stick with one. I guess nerd stuff isn't working for me.
What art stuff is there to play around with? Sodipodi was amusing me for a little while.

Povray (http://www.povray.org)
Then have a look at this thread (http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=37666) and make yourself an Ubuntu logo.

You can contribute to the Ubuntu!
You can help the doc team use the information that comes from the forum.
http://test.wiki.ubuntu.com/forum
If you see an interesting post (or seveal dozen) create a page for it and make a summary of the information. The doc team can then have a place to easily access the technical support that is available on the forums.
There will soon be a contest with prizes given out to the users who can contribute the most entries.
There are other ways to give back to the Ubuntu comunity, too...

Yeah, the nerd lifestyle is a special calling. We're a special breed. It took a little while for me to get accustomed to this lifestyle. However, I can now safely say that after 3 years of hard training in recluse and isolation, sunlight burns my skin, Exxon has offshore drilling rights to my hair, and I'm fairly convinced now that sulphuric acid, not water, is what really pours from shower heads. At long last, I think I've finally made it...
Set your lynx (not firefox) home page to slashdot. That's Nerd 101 - your first step to enlightenment...
