I was driving home from my girlfriend's, her mom is a doctor, and I was thinking about this project and then I though, "is this a standalone desktop project? Or are they set up to be networked and share files and the likes, how do these applications work?" So I guess my question is is LDAP going to installed by default? What about Samba? Dansguardian/squid? I guess I'm now looking from an administrative point of view and not per computer. How do these things work?

We may need more detail to answer your question.
See this page (http://www.ubuntu.com/products/WhatIsUbuntu/serveredition) for more information about Ubuntu Server.

I understand what Ubuntu server includes by default, but that's not my question, i guess I meant what will this project include to make it viable in an actual office, with multiple pcs/users. Will it have built in Samba support? Easy LDAP configuration to join it to a domain (ldap-utils) so that users can switch computers with roaming profiles? These aspects are just as important as the medical apps themselves, without proper network infrastructure there's no point. So what is Linux for Clinics doing in this regard is my question.

We will be coming out with a server edition after our "client" edition. Calling it a client edition somewhat of a misnomer because you could in fact (if technically inclined) set up the database on one single computer for a very small medical office in a developing country. Our server edition will have contain everything required to run the GNUmed database (GNUmed is central to the LFC distro). IF you set up the client LFC distro to automatically login (like most hospitals do with windows) you would walk up to any computer on the network click the GNUmed icon and log into the Database and perform whatever functions you need to and log back out of the database.
With the client edition you would also be able to access a remote database...Possibly a ideal situation for a small medical office with a small amount of computers would be to pay a small monthly fee to a specialized hosting company who is capable of setting up and regulatory backing up the database for them. Granted this brings up Hippa issues, but that's not a issue in every country in the world.
Also if a large establishment such as a hospital or large medical group intends to have a large network operating on LFC it is our contention that they will be better off having someone set everything up for them...Medical professionals are just that...Medical professionals and not computer techs.
Dansguardian? We plan to make the UbuntuCE version(has a nice GUI for easy setup) available in our repos...We will not however have dansquardian set up "out of the box". We intend for this project to work for the vast majority of medical professionals and students and many (or even most in the beginning) will likely not want Internet filtering set-up (in fact Dansguardian blocks many medical websites due to phrases such as penis or vagina). so while Dansguardian is a good solution for many it is not a perfect solution.
I hope I've answered your questions. Feel free to ask more or suggest things that you would like to see done with LFC as we are always open to critique or suggestions.
