I am considering making a change in theme for the upcoming release of Ubuntu CE v3.0 (Feisty). I would like to know what you all think.
I would want to keep it very clean and smooth. Basically I would consider using something like the Ubuntu Human blue themes.

I would love to see a blue theme. I like the normal human theme, but I find darker colors look more polished.

Umm, I am personally partial to "sky" colours rather than "earth" colours.
I don't think a sleek, metallic blue theme would fit Ubuntu. But the right palette of blues, aquas and pale greens or reds could be very Ubuntu-esque.
I'm not good enough to design such a theme myself. But I'd know a good one when I saw it.
I've always thought the Ubuntu brown was "too much." But there can be too much blue, too.
All-in-all I like the idea, if it is done tastefully.

Blue would be a nice change. The only hesitation that I have is that blue is being used by many OS's: Fedora, Ichthux, Windows, to name a few. The thing that I liked about the default Ubuntu colors was that it distinguishes it from the rest. So would it be too much to have a choice of the "new" blue and the default colors?
I agree with ntaylor0909, that the darker blues look better, with lighter blues, blacks & whites for highlights...I guess that would look kind of Fedora'ish:)

Thanks for the feedback. So far blue is winning.
I agree that the Ubuntu brown definitely makes it stand out. I have actually finally gotten used to it and I even like it. I am just thinking that it may be time to try to distinguish Ubuntu CE from Ubuntu. I do not ever want to stray to far from Ubuntu but I believe that it may be a nice to give it a little different theme.

I really like blue, but I have a hard time picturing Ubuntu in Blue, just because the default has always been brown. I always used to change things to Blue, but this last time, I got tired of having to change every little detail, and left it the brown. Now the brown is starting to grow on me. If it were blue, would it be from start to finish? Including the bootup screen, splash screens, and of course the desktop theme? I think it would look sharp that way, if it all went together, of coused the Start button would have to change colors too. Is there anyway to through together a deb that would automatically do that for us, so we can check it out first? It would need to restore the defaults too. I don't know how much work this would entail, just thinking out loud.
